Posted these vintage ones in another thread that's going nowhere fast .... but since I've gotten all three of the hats in the past month, they qualify being here.

First, a Stephen L. Stetson. The dimensions and shape match those of mid-1930s 'sport' fedoras:

This is a Palco. Looks '40s to me:

Here is a Ceres (a British hatmaker). I'm guessing late '30s:

I'm fairly new to the forum, and still kinda exploring.

However, I guess I can post it here -- our local Western store bought a TRUCKLOAD of Resistol 20X beaver felt Western hats, and I bought one -- $100! They told me they bought 2400 of them! Anyway, my new hat is completely Western styled, as befits my location in Clovis, NM. Color is silver belly -- I just don't care for a black hat. Probably has something to do with my watching too much Gunsmoke and Lone Ranger when I was young! LOL! Guess I'll have to figure out how to add pictures on this particular forum... but it looks a lot like the one at this link -- although it's labelled "PROMO" on the sticker.

There IS no "urban cowboy" here -- you either wear a hat, or you don't. Shape doesn't seem to matter. In fact, there is no URBAN here, either -- we're a hundred miles from Lubbock, a hundred miles from Amarillo, and TWO hundred miles from Albuquerque.

Hi

I'm sure I could have worded that better, but I live in Wichita, home of Shepler's Western Wear. I buy my jeans there. I also bought a light and dark hat brush, and several hat covers for the rain. All of their hats from $50 to $500 look pretty much the same, and just like the picture I linked to. If I wanted to look like everyone else, I'd give up the Fedoras and buy one in each color.

I grew up in downstate Illinois, where I was not allowed to wear cowboy boots, not owning a horse and all (not kidding). I was a townie, my parents didn't own land, horses, or farm for a living, so I was a townie. Now in Wichita, I'm a hick. [huh]

Nice finds! I think the Mayser is late 1950s early 60s. I really like the bow work.

Hückel (Weilheim) Chevreau

Hückel (Weilheim) Chevreau, size 58cm, green. It's mid 1950s and with little to no wear and has the original paper sales tag. The felt color and finish (Antilope like) are fantastic. Also great overall construction and detail work .
