My son got his new Akubra Cattleman in sand. The box, and the hat, were somewhat crushed, but a little steam has it looking pretty good now. We took the hat to our closest hatter and had the brim trimmed by about a half an inch.

Stetson Playboy

The other day I was watching Douglas posting some really nice hats in the Classifieds - none of which were my size.

Then to my surprise, I say he was selling a really nice green Playboy - in 71/8 too! Needless to say, I jumped at the chance to get hold of it and here it is; my very first Stetson!

The Playboy is in super condition and I really like the lightweight soft felt - it feels very much like my vintage Silver Borsalino.

Needless to say, I'm very happy with my new hat - thanks Douglas!

What's your method for brim trimming?

Well, this is the first hat I have needed to trim, so as I said, my method this time was to drive to a hat shop and pay ten dollars to have it done. I think I would like to get some kind of inexpensive brim cutter of my own.
