The straw is in excellent shape with a good amount of patina from age and sweat. Someday I might explore having it cleaned, but right now I'm loving the original condition. It even fits.
weave count is about 700 per square inch.

Magnificent! So fine. Also, that last shot of you could go in a frame.

Josh, The Borsalino looks great on you. Not too big.

SteveAS, That is one fine looking velour. Happy for you.

Jedwbpm, Wonderful look. That silverbelly is a real eye catcher (in a good way).

All great hats on this page.

I have a new to me through Frussell 6X Stetson Montgomery in Silverbelly Western Alan Jackson autograph model. Seems about 1998. I really like this hat. I think it will get a lot of wear. Once again Thank you Frussell.
Still have a lot of snow as you can see.

Jeff

Wow! Super hat. I really like it.

Regrettably no maker's data to be found even on the factory paper tag. The removal of 3 long thick strips of cardboard under the sweatband has brought it within the range of a resize. Not bad for 1 Euro before shipping. Sweatband is such poor quality it makes me think perhaps a WW2 shortages hat.

The picture is ever so slightly akew, but a fair representation of my new BGCD acquired from MHollis. Still need a little work on this one, but a nice hat nonetheless! I will say this, I have read that Akubra can be a little less than precise when it comes to sizing, and this hat provides the proof. I wear a 60, this hat is a 59, and in it's open crown state, I slipped it down till it folded my ears over with virtually no resistance.

Wow that turned out super! Always great to find a good surprise. You could be right about the sweatband. I have a WWII era JHS Jota Seal Velour that has cloth - enamel? coated sweatband.

I got my Cellini homburg today.
IMG_0399.jpg

The tags on the inside imply that it is affiliated with Barbiso. It is rabbit fur and made in colombia.

After a quick steam and brush:

I will post some more in the homburg thread.

Mayser Supra

This Echter Mayser Supra just arrived. This one has a unique sweatband that I haven't seen before on Mayser. Beautiful liner and ribbon / bow work. Overall it is a really nice example of the style. Could be early to mid 1950s.
(edit -> originally mislabeled as a Homburg).

I see what you are saying and I had similar feeling when I first saw it. It does curl at the side but not at the edge. I will take some additional photos wearing it.

Here is the Stetson Twenty-Five I scored a few days ago for $77 plus shipping
Came like this...

Has some very minor moth action and the sweat is loose in a small section

Quick dry bash - this felt is crazy soft and easy

Literally just gave me heart palpitations!

Very nice! I like that brim styling... very similar to this Richelieu homburg variant:

Here are some preview pics of my new custom from Black Sheep Hat Works...just cellphone pics though. Will try to snap some better shots, but looks like a few days of rain out here.

Felt is a hand dyed Oxblood, 2 1/8 brim with underwelt, 1 3/4" ribbon.

These pics definitely do not the color justice.
