Why do you ask?
Today's find at a junk shop was this Mallory. For $10, I couldn't pass it up.

It has a union label, a plastic liner cap, and a modern looking size tag. Could use a bath, but zero moth damage. Will do well as a beater.

The guy from the shop told me he did have "a bunch of them Jimmy Durante or Frank Sinatra hats" but he sold them all except this one. And that I bought it out from under a cow punchers son who kept coming in to look at it but wouldn't pay the price he was asking. The old guy was quite a character. lol

I received my new Adam today - my first "Marston", smaller brim than I usually sport, but will work for more informal situations. It also came with the wonderful Jack Paar Show stand.

LOOK! It's a floating head! That's a fantastic looking hat, and display stand.

Interesting. So much for that one...

It wasn't a bad idea. It's possible that ribbons were used originally to cover the stitching area where the sweatband was sewn to the felt, or an area where two separate pieces of the hat were joined.

Amazing felt and sweatband. No moth damage but some shipping creases that will have to be blocked out. Color is called Angola. More in French Hat thread.

Here's one that arrived yesterday. It's a Mallory 10, Premier Quality Pliafelt. Given the lack of reeded sweat, and considering ads that show a Pliafelt Dallas going for $10 in the early 40's, before a post-war price jump, I'm inclined to think this one may date to the early 40's. The feather is original to the hat.

The color is a kind of steel blue, with a lavender undertone. In fact, the color of the wind cord itself is lavender. Sweat is in great shape, and the felt is a medium thickness -- just beautiful to the touch. Part of me wants to send this off to Optimo for cleaning -- the other part doesn't want to risk anything going wrong with the sweat and wind cord on a hat of this vintage. Matching felt ribbon, with an interesting treatment...

My brand new/old Royalist Supreme from Johnnyphi Hats!

Sorry I didn't measure the dimensions but here are some particulars. I know nothing of this company other than it is top notch quality. I've never heard of Royalist until Johnnyphi.

Color: Brown
Ribbon/Edge Binding: Moss Green

This is simply a beautiful hat and is my new, instant favorite, everyday hat that will live just about permanently on my noggin. The felt is paper thin and buttery soft. There are a few minor moth nibbles on the Edge Binding that I might have replaced sometime. There is also to slight moth damage to the liner. The felt is perfect and impeccable. I can't say it enough. I LOVE THIS HAT!!!:D

As well you should! That is a fantastic looking lid! I love the ribbon/binding color against the felt. Beautiful. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

And, a johnnyphi hat means it's from decades ago straight to your noggin'! ;)

Congrats.
