Actually the correct size and no moth damage. 2-1/2" brim.

Gorgeous! The color's terrific and I love the dimensions of the ribbon and brim.

Billysdad gets a lid!

A couple of weeks ago my husband mumbled that if I saw a fedora for him on eBay that I might bid on it. So when I saw this Mayser with a BIN I jumped on it. It arrived today and I'm thrilled! It's a wonderful lid, it fits well, and it looks super!

He wore it out to dinner this evening and I suspect he'll really enjoy it.

Sue, I'm glad your husband likes this fine old Mayser. This is my first post on this wonderful site, and, to have the privilege of making one of the most prolific members happy with one of my hats, albeit one that didn't fit me, is a real thrill. I purchased this hat for my son about a year ago but he didn't see himself wearing it so I thought it best to sell it to someone who would appreciate it. I guess I succeeded.

I am still trying to figure out how to create an avatar and participating in the many interesting discussions in this forum

Welcome, glad to see you at the lounge. I've been up thru your neck of the woods a couple of times and it seems like nice country.

Cheers,

Please tell me he's not a 7 1/4 Sue! I've a feeling you'd be formidable competition.

The hat looks great though.

E.T. - He's a 7 1/2. Not to worry. ;)

RBH - We may have a convert, here.

Thanks. I inherited my love of hats from my grandfather, who used to wear a brown Borsalino on his bike, wearing a suit, to and from work. Time frame 1950's, in the old country.

I have been wearing, buying, collecting and selling hats for many years. When I stumbled upon this forum I was ecstatic that there were many more fedora fans with vast knowledge to share. Once I get acquainted with how to post photos and create an avatar I'll share whatever I can with all of you. I own about 50 hats, including some stupendous vintage Montecristis. One is probably 1000+ wpsi and was recently made up in an optimo shape by Optimo in Chicago...fabulous work on Graham's part.

Of course, my wife thinks I've gone looney...she has yet to ask if I would find a hat for her, so I did it anyway. I'm now waiting for a couple of straws I bought for her for our yearly Spring training trip to Florida. If she doesn't like them I'll try to have them converted for me. Is there a thread on women's straws, to men's, conversions?

I just had a thought...
Until this thread I had never heard you mention Billy's Dad at all Sue ;)
Wasn't sure you weren't single...
As soon as he gets his first hat he pops forth in full colour lol

Just thinkin' what the man says...
"If a guy doesn't have a lid, he is not worth talking about." [huh]

Mallory???

Received this University club that really doesn't have much marking on it at all, as shown. The only thing other than U. Club and the shop is a price tag that says "Mallory" and 10.95 but which I think is just stuck on at the shop.
Under the sweat there is also a simple "$10.95" sticker but really nothing else.
Any ideas?

Mine now

One of the nicest things about this forum is that unfortunate events can often be made good. I received an Open Road clone that was mis-sized and Mr. Tutt took posession. This lovely blue velour now lives at my house! Thanks, rlk!!!

Beautiful deep Blue Velour with 2-1/4" raw brim and Petersham hat band. Wide fabric sweatband. Originally sold in Abbeville,France but made in Czechoslovakia. I'm not sure of the gender of this hat, I guess it can swing either way. Photographed as a women's hat. The sweatband seam is hardly there and not centered Bow is on the left if you place the seam towards the rear. Listed as a 58 cm man's hat but as usual[huh] its really a 55(6-7/8).
