Max Förster "Marke Förster", Wool, 57 cm, 144 grams possibly 1930s. Max Förster Altenburg (Thüringen) was a major hat factory up to WWII. (Altenburg was a hat making center.) I only have one other Max Förster and it's a Wool Soft Felt so happy to have found this Stiff Felt. The seller of this Stiff Felt is located in Altenburg.

Brown Portis “Escort” Royal quality homburg with Swansback Finish. Size 7 US with a wonderfully supple thin and wide leather sweatband with a rolled edge. I’ve always loved their “Typically American” slogan.

Wow I really like that sweatband ribbon a lot. Do all Portis do that?

Triumph by Champ (with Super Sonic Edge!). The "super sonic" designation makes me think this is a sixties product. That and the 1.5" brim. Seller said it came in a ruined box labelled "Penthouse" model and "Roman Green" but now that this is in my hands, I think the box was from a different hat. Lots of hats have a green or olive cast, but this has none; it appears black but in very particular light it will turn an extremely dark brown.

TriTop.jpeg

No "Felted by Master Craftsman" or "Kasmir Finish" stamps as usually found on Champ hats, but there is that "Super Sonic Edge" logo, and a Beaver brag stamp:
TriBeav.jpeg

Nice feather and wind trolley. Looks like their might have been a pin or badge in the bow, once.

TriFeather.jpeg

In terrific shape overall, minimum of dust, no moth bites BUT there is a puncture. I don't think it's a bite because it goes through the satin lining. On the outside is very hard to see/find.

TriTip.jpeg

The satin lining is a bit "spotty." Anyone want to chime in on what causes that? Brylcreem? I'll probably snip the plastic off the tip logo.
While dusting it off and inspecting it I felt a little bump and opened up the seam in the satin lining to take out... I'm not sure what? Moth wings/body parts? Maybe that hole is a moth bite. I've stashed the hat in the freezer for a couple of days, just to be on the safe side. On the head:

When it comes out of the freezer I'll steam in the pinch/dents I like.

Thank you for posting your new hat. Nice!
It raises a question I've had for some time about whether it's ok to freeze leather sweatbands.
Anybody?

My latest addition to my meager homburg collection . I've fallen more in love with homburgs. This was a rare, stately, and awesome find. I'm certain I'll get possible feedback on dating this beauty. #hookedonhomburgs

Great find, Jack. You can't have too many Homburgs

I have a similar Habig Homburg in blue from February 1974. If your "Auftrags datum" in the top left hand corner of the label had a year description like mine does, you'd know the year.

However, I'm sure more knowledgeable folks on the Lounge like Steve @mayserwegener will be able to chip in on the vintage re the cells on the paper label.

Fritz Reuter Hoflieferant Düsseldorf, 57 cm possibly 1920s or earlier 1900s. From what I could find Fritz Reuter was a retailer so most likely sourced. It's in excellent condition and came with a Fritz Reuter Düsseldorf case.

Beautiful hat in great condition, Steve. There are quite a few "zylinder hüte" on German Ebay to be found; what makes you go for one?

J. Heinr. Ita, "Extra" "Federlicht" , 56 cm, 90 grams, possibly mid 1930s. Fantastic light weight Blue Felt with a smooth finish that easily dry creases. The blue Sweatband and "ITA" mark are impressive.

Ypou can never have enough homburgs. Nice find, Jack. Judging by the label I'd say it's a later one; up until the mid-eighties they tend to have the production year on the label.

These are all new in the last month! I was saving up for a new fly rod, but ended up taking a different path. I've never worn a Fedora before, but once I tried on the Stratoliner, I knew it was what I've been wanting.
Stetson Stratoliner in Silverbelly, 7 5/8.

Stetson Roadster in Walnut, 7 5/8. Honestly, had I bought this one first, I may not have bought the others so quickly!

And the Stetson Bozeman in mushroom for when I'm in the river.
