I got my Stetson Temple "50 Grams" hat clone modification back yesterday from JJ Hat Center. Basically, I asked JJ Hat Center to modify a Stetson Temple Navy to look like the Borsalino 50 Grams hat through a hat band change and a crown reshape to a teardrop. Basically, this is what I was looking for:

Curiously enough, I got the hat back with the hatband changed, but not with the crown reshape. Therefore, I reshaped the crown myself. This is my first attempt on making a teardrop crown:

The crown reshape was free anyway, so nothing lost. Still, I didn't get any feedback from them about why they didn't reshape the crown.
Nice job on the crease. And the contrasting ribbon looks sharp.

I have several hats that are special to me. I have custom hats that turned out perfect, I have vintage hats that I saw steered in to, and I have hats that I’ve rescued and put back into wearable condition. This hat my most special of them all. It’s my oldest hat. It has the best hand and general felt qualities of any of my hats. It’s in fantastic condition and fits perfectly. However, what makes it the most special to me is that it was a gift from Daniel @Just Daniel He didn’t even ask me to cover shipping. It’s not his size, but even then I know how hard it is to part with something so rare and so beautiful. I’ve never met Daniel and quite possibly never will, but he’s one of the several good friends I’ve made here on TFL. I’m humbled and amazed to be the recipient of such generosity and kindness.

John B. Stetson Extra Light Weight complete with the 1900 Grand Prize exposition medals on the liner and on the sweatband. Sold by the Klafter Hat Co. In Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The open crown is just shy of six inches and the raw edge brim is 2 1/2 inches wide.

The hat is obviously exceptional, but I can unequivocally say that I value my friends here more than any hat. Thank you, Daniel, for your generosity.
Fantastic!! Congrats to you and to Daniel. Being yourself so kind and generous to many of us here, surely you deserve hat gifts and more. Enjoy this old beauty.

That's exactly what I thought!

Brent has been finding and shipping off nice hats that did not fit him (99.99% of them) to other people for so long, when this one came in right at 7 5/8 I had a hard time imagining it going to anyone else. Had it been 7 1/2 or lower, the debate might have been longer ;)

...It also helps that I have pretty much the exact same hat. I have been wearing mine for the last two days to get over it. ...And it might have taken me a rather long time to actually put the thing it the mail.

Woohoo! I'm glad it made Brent so happy.

That is one beautiful hat Brent. You are one of the good ones yourself and certainly deserving of some good hat karma to come your way. Good on Daniel for making this happen. Enjoy your soft, warm and fuzzies

That is awesome, did you redo the crown? The OR normally has the cattleman's crease right?
Thanks! This is right out of the box. The felt is soft and malleable enough that I could put it in a cattleman’s in a minute, but I prefer the pinch.

The newer OR usually has the cattleman’s crease, but with the older ones it is not uncommon to see them creased differently.

Interesting, I much prefer the pinch, totally changes the look of the hat.
