This is the one that began the Borsalino lavine.
Panizza Sportsman. Wonderful feel to the felt. The dark olive green colour appealed to me at once along with the liner.
Panizza called it the Sportsman. As can be seen from the liner logo, it would be better called the Huntsman :)
Homburg/Camber style. More Homburg style than Camber as the brim cannot be snapped down, but still not quite a Homburg.

Thanks again to Panos @PanosChris for keeping this one for me, and thanks for the work on the brim.

Very cool, Steve. It reminds me of the 1960s version of the Dobbs Gamebird.

Miesbacher Velourhutfabrik, Otto Koch, Koch Velour "Extra", 58 cm possible late 1950s. I was interested in this hat because I don't have an example of Miesbacher Velourhutfabrik, Otto Koch, Koch Velour. I am not sure if Miesbacher Velourhutfabrik is related to Ernst Kohlndorfer Miesbach / Oberbayren Velour Hutfabrik so I will have to do some research. The closed cropped Velour is of excellent quality (color, finish, hand) and is in very good condition. This is a typical Miesbacher Trachten style and the overall quality is superb.

The color saturation on that one, and the liner, make for a beautiful hat. Congrats.

The fourth and final Borsalino of my new hats. I thought I'd bought 6. My senile bad :)

Anyway, Borsalino Lobbia newly aquired from Panos. It's dimensions are compact, nice hand to the felt. The liner is loose. Something I haven't seen in a Borsalino before.

Can be worn with or without pinches.

Hello,
I’m a total newbie to this forum and fedoras both new and vintage. I just bought what I believe to be a vintage hat but aside from that, I don’t know much other than it’s a Resistol. Is there anyone who could help out on any more specific details like approximately age, model, what it might be made of… ? These are pictures of everything I received. The box obviously is from a different hat and I’m guessing the paper that says “spectator” is also from a different hat. Thanks in advance :) DC0C3521-298B-4A07-BBB7-76F0C1E51949.jpeg FBE7ABEF-D8C4-4159-A4CC-A53B5482E263.jpeg DC0C3521-298B-4A07-BBB7-76F0C1E51949.jpeg FBE7ABEF-D8C4-4159-A4CC-A53B5482E263.jpeg 9716BA85-1137-4C2C-BDDF-29508B1A1C0C.jpeg 9C221EB4-4A37-4C4F-A414-5935C0A4C6B9.jpeg 671FAA31-FF64-48A1-8281-2F18E0E2F5E7.jpeg 77D40339-10C2-40DE-957A-6E6B5BD9DC0B.jpeg 3A6ACC95-45B0-4F80-9F64-AD823FF2EEC2.jpeg 487B208D-0843-408F-BA7D-56A44C1488B0.jpeg

Resistol stopped making dress hats in 1967-68. Based on the lower crown, machine pressed shape, narrow (stingy) underwelt brim etc., I’d guess your hat is a later 1960s model. US hat quality had been in steep decline for over a decade before your hat was made. Although these newer vintage hats don’t compare to the quality of their forerunners, I like them as inexpensive unpretentious hats. Bummer that the leather sweatband has deteriorated…something I know a lot about.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate it. That Stetson you just posted looks brand new. It amazes me the condition of a lot of these hats for their age.

I was going to guess a No. 1 Quality with that single ply ribbon. I'm sure it will be OK seeing that it is "only" a 3X!

Stetson 3X Beaver. I’m guessing latter 1950s. It’s in fantastic condition but there isn’t a label of any kind behind the sweatband. 3 1/2” raw edge brim and 5 5/8” open crown.

I really like these skinny ribbon hats. This hat is too small for me, but it’s one of the largest fitting 7 3/8 hats I’ve had on my head.

This Brent Black Montecristi Panama arrived a few days ago. I’m torn between sending it to Brent Black to be reblocked to my size and have the crown made taller at the expense of brim width or I could sell it. It’s about a 7 3/8 as it is, but the crown is much lower than I like them.

I don’t often wear mine because of the crown height. But I don’t know if I’d send it to Brent Black because of the amount he would charge. I’d consider a different custom hatter.

$250 for Brent Black to reblock the hat. I know that Mike at Northwest doesn’t had any Panama blocks in my size. I’ll probably sell it on as it looks to be a lot of work and expense without any guarantee that the hat will turn out. I really like the plantation style if I could get the crown height I want.

I've posted my recent Facebook Market Place Borsalino finds, and my 3 newly aquired hats from Panos. Now, the first of the 3 new Daniele acquisitions.

A 1920s Antonin France. A classic hat of the period. Black, brim up, no pinches, a good deal of wool in the felt, and no liner as are most AF hats.
