What a beautiful color Stefan!Part II
Some other shots.
Weather proofing was done with "stearato chromic chloride"; I'm not sure if that's meant to reassure me!

Resistol Byer-Rolnick - Beaver Fifteen
Kitten Finish - Silver Grey
5 3/4 Open Crown - 5 inch as shaped
2 inch black grosgrain ribbon
2 1/4 brim with wide Cavanagh edge
Wind Trolley
This 1950s Byer-Rolnick Resistol- Self Conforming Beaver Fifteen with luxurious Kitten Finish In a beautiful light silver came highly recommended by @Randall Renshaw. And boy was he correct. The texture of felt is about as soft and plush as you can get without being a velour. It molds in your hands with ease. The 2 1/4 brim definitely hits a sweet spot for me and it features a beautiful nice wide Cavanagh edge. The oil skin liner is pointing me to 1950s vintage. The sweat appears to be in nice shape and is still malleable. The proportions are fantastic with its ample brim and 2 inch ribbon. This one is in fabulous almost minty condition. It even possessed the original care pamphlet and the managers card from the store it was sold at. This is one excellent hat for sure. If I was ever forced to drop my collection to just one hat... this one would be definitely be in the running.... Both for its beauty and versatility. It hits a sweet spot for me in styling that this could be an everyday hat to wear from the most casual of casual to formal.

I almost couldn’t type it with a straight face. LOL. A bit of hyperbole there. But you get my drift. We’ll have none of that crazy talk about dropping a hat collection to one hat, thank you very much.
It really is a nice hat with great proportions on you.

Hahaha. Like THAT could ever happen. one hat... sheeshHow very jealous I am, even whilst owing one! That thing is super sweet!
What Brent said made me laugh out loud! Choose one hat?
What kind of sinister crime would one have to commit to warrant capital punishment of that horrific, unbearable magnitude? May none of us ever find out!
A classy hat, for sure, Joe.
Nevertheless, It’s a good thing you don’t buy every hat I have shared with you in an eBay link and gushed over.
But ain’t that all money’s made for?
Hat Acquisition Notes, right?

I think if I did buy them all I wouldn’t have the chance to wear em all. Come to think of it.. that is true. If I bought them ALL I couldn’t wear any of em... my wife woulda killed me dead!
Maybe this holds true...
Which one is your FAVORITE hat?
The one I’m wearing.
Thanks again buddy!
Enjoyed this disturbing, hypothetical 3 page thread, Jim.
Very nice Brent. Love the color and the ribbonByer-Rolnick era Resistol milan made for the S.C. Wildlife Resources Dept. It has a 3 1/4” brim and is the light and springy variety of milan. It’s very similar to my VS milan and not at all like the Stratton milans.

It swallowed my 7 5/8 LO band block without issue and after a couple streamings it fits perfectly.
Wonderful... glad it worked out so well!O’Farrell:
This was an eBay victory that I was sure was going to be a defeat. I saw it within minutes of it being listed. I sent an email asking how they determined it was a size 7 3/4 and if they would give me the normal measurements. Far too many size 7 3/4 hats turn out to just have head openings that are 7 3/4” long. While waiting for a response, Max sent me a PM with a link to the hat. For the low cost I took the risk and pulled the trigger hoping it was actually a 7 3/4. It was.
I suspect the open crown would be over 6 inches and the brim is 3 inches. Thanks, Max...I needed the nudge. This is my third O’Farrell and by far the nicest of them.

It’s a buckskin color that makes a nice break from silverbelly and brown.

O’Farrell
Good gets on both Brent! Do you have a pic of the O'Farrell logo on the sweat? Was there a circumference written on the back of the sweat at the seam? If you let go of that Resistol give me a shout. It would go well with my South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Resistol. Congrats!

That is a wonderful hat, Brent, an I like that different color as well.
Thanks, Bob. Nothing on the backside of the O’Farrell’s sweatband. Here’s the logo:
