Not a hat, but a cap! Waxed canvas modified 5-panel based on the hat Robert Shaw wore in "Jaws" (1975).

Hi, I have a very timely hint here. DO NOT buy a bunch of that there wax and put it on the hat. I'm not sure how dry the things are supposed to get before you put wax on them, but I waxed one and went to Quivira Scout Ranch where it was 108 most days, the wax melted and the hat got droopy, really really Droopy. The wax DID soak in good though...

On a more positive note, eating the cheapest garlic tablets in the supermarket keeps the mosquitoes from eating you and you from eating sweets. One week, learnt a couple of things.

Got this a few weeks ago in a hat exchange with Mike @Redfokker (miss you over here, buddy).
Gimbel homburg in blue. Size 56 with the brim at 5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Unreeded sweatband and a gloriously coloured liner (it's what sold it to me). There might be some wool content in the felt and it has that nice old-time feel. In great shape with just some loose stitches on the sweat.

Steco Echt Velour in grey. Model is called "Saale" and the colour is "grafit". Raw edge brim at 5,5cm and the crown 10cm at the center dent. Size is 55, but it fits me perfectly. Unreeded sweatband and a fabulous liner in this one (I think Steve has a similar one his website). Sweatband printing says EMA "Schutz Marke" (top) and "Gut zieht an!" (below).
More in the German and Austrian Hutmachers thread.

A beautiful color spectrum on that one, Stefan.

Borsalino Amiata. Size 57 with the bound brim at a good 5cm and the crown 10,5cm a the center dent. Some oddities on this early to mid sixties hat. The sweatband is missing the "antica casa" logo and the liner doesn't have a quality designation. The felt is also somewhat stiffer than usual with Borsalino. Might be this one was made for them by another factory.

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Elastic", measures 58cm, possibly later 1920s early 1930s. The sweatband bow was missing so I installed a new one. I couldn't find a paper label. Possible modifications were made because there was a felt strip applied to the back side of the felt at the front edge level (most likely) for cushioning.

New Hat Day at the office on Monday! Steel Gannon, possibly the first one made in California. 62 CM, 7 3/4, 5 1/2" shaped crown with a 2 3/4 mild flange brim. The headband is the "mushroom" one offered and is very soft. This is my 2nd Gannon and it is a fine piece of hat! Very happy customer. Felt is thinner than the whiskey diamond crown I had made a little over a year ago. Thanks again Michael!

Is Michael making hats in California now?
