Speaking of petting...
Flechet de luxe Century size 57

Molto bello, anzi bellissimo. I wish it is my size!
Flechet use the "Century" denomination for this type of felt.
Two days ago my black "Lord hat" or hat for gala has the same finish, not the same proportions and color:rolleyes:

Thank you Daniele! Your black lords hat is wonderful, this one is not so easy to pull it off but I have a thing for longer hair finishes :)

Wow.. just beautiful Panos

Thanks Joe !

Found this one today in Copenhagen, Hückel Prima. Talk about a petting hat. It's very similar to one Daniele posted at the end of January, though this one has a back bow. I'm guessing the same time frame, late 1920s-1930s.

By the shape of the crease inside and out, it looks like it had a crease clip at some point.

The sad thing is, it's way too small for me. I just had to have it though View attachment 212620 View attachment 212621 View attachment 212622 View attachment 212623 View attachment 212624 View attachment 212625 View attachment 212626
Very nice find, Steve. Excellent petting hat for sure.

Dimensions are huge (not so for the crown). This thing is hairy, huge and alive. Always wanted a Golden Retriever in green ;) View attachment 212810 View attachment 212821 Panos
Good heavens; that thing is huge! Wonder what market it was aimed for. very interesting find (again), Panos.

Thanks Stefan! Many questions raised regarding this one. Untill opening the box I wasn't sure for many things including size, brim width and whether is a woman's hat or not...

Thanks, Stefan. Believe it or not, I'd looked at this one twice before and let it pass because it was way too small. I woke up the other morning in a cold sweat thinking, "What are you doing?"

I made a special trip to Copenhagen to rescue that Prima and put it in the safe protection of my collection

Two hats showed up today, one of which is a brown Stetson St. Regis Homburg which will clean up nicely. Someone really went to town trying to change the shape of it so some steam is in order.
This is a much softer felt than my other, earlier St. Regis so it doesn't take much to change the way it looks. Pull it down on your head and that top pops right up!
I was expecting it to be a much stiffer hat than it actually turned out to be.
Earlier one has no wind trolley, this one does, both have that anti-hair goop plastic shield.
Nothing special to pose it on today as there's just about no light and it's drizzling out at the moment.
The current Stetson Homburgs are MUCH stiffer than the St. Regis (no reshaping them) and sit considerably higher up on your head. They're also shaped quite a bit differently.
I suppose Stetson went to the hard shell version as it will always retain it's shape so you don't really have to be all that careful with it.
