How about...the Coronet?
Definition: 1, A small crown worn by nobles.
2, A headband adorned with gold.
Found this in the dictionary way after putting in the gold hat pin. Cool.

Who’s Nick F. ?

Ewh....a popcorn question that could have a myriad of colorful answers!

I’ll say.....Hollyweird’s hatter whom vintage hat lovers might find ignominiously represents a hat maker.
Prob as nice an answer as i can fathom.

An Adam I picked from our Bay tree of life for $25. The new apple of my eye...[emoji849]
I’d guess late fifties, maybe sixties. It was in very rough condition. There was a terrible blowout in the overwelt. I had to take out the sewn in liner[emoji19]to clean it , too dirty to leave in. The grey ribbon that was on it was beyond cleaning and fixing. Oh well, I’ve been trying to choose one of my hats that would make a good candidate for an aspirational project.

I sewed the ribbon and bow on today. A brand new design by the guy in the photo wearing the hat.
Hardest bow yet...by far.

Wegener "Seal", 57 cm possibly mid to later 1950s. The felt color and Chamois finish are fantastic. Also like the ribbon width and bow design. Wegener liked to use names of German towns for their colors, in this case "Fritzlar".

Wonderful Steve! The felt seems quite peachy -longer nap-, is that the Chamois finish?

You've certainly given that Adam's a new lease of life with that super bow treatment, Randall. Could definitely be worn as a tuxedo hat now.

Wow B, were you ever a diplomat?

"Nick F." is Nick Fouquet, an arrogant person of questionable talents who has been labeled as a "hatmaker" in Venice, California. The hats he "creates" are equal parts clothing and art and, as such, he sells them at high prices to people with more money than brains. I'm sure you've guessed by now that he and his products are not viewed favorably by most of the members here (myself included), but you are, of course, free to form your own opinions of him and his hats. :D

By the way Mr. Renshaw, your ribbon work on that hat is brilliant! The derringer pin is the perfect touch.

With all do respect to Mr. Nick, but those hats are, what can I say, ah yes...

Foguet about it!

I never purposely buy hats not in my size but I do occasionally make measurement inquiries of hats on each side of my own 3/8. Never had any luck on the 1/2 side but this seller seemed certain of his measurements. Coming in closer to a 1/4 than anything. Odd but worth a shot and he accepted my offer. I’m sure many here saw it as it was listed on the bay a couple of times. It’s a great hat and just the mate I was looking for my 7X CB. 3x5 1/2 with a really dense, thick felt in a darker golden/tan color. Has a few light marks but otherwise great felt, sweat and liner. Stars all around.

Not certain how the seller came by his measurements but they were wrong. It is a 1/2 and trying it on my head and using a ruler bear this out. Since I don’t/won’t shim anything that takes more than a folded bill, this one will soon be back on the market unless someone makes me an offer (of a hat) I can’t refuse.

I’m interested. Being a long oval 1/2’s fit me just fine.

Just picked this Royal Stetson. Interesting ribbon. I'm usually a 7 1/4, but with longer hair 3/8 fits perfect. I'm excited to get my hands on this one.

Good get, Hector. I was hoping somebody on the FL would pick this up. I have it's twin in 7 1/4, though mine is a bit more beat up and shows its miles.

Thanks! I came across it by pure chance. I was looking for something else, not hat related, but from the 50's and that's how it popped in my search.

Woo hoo!
That’s a fine looking Nutria hat Greg!
Idk but i’d be tempted to fold up a couple bills just to keep that one. But i been known to stuff a sock in a lot of stuff just to hang on to it. Cough cough.
I hope a trade comes along for you but idk, i might give it a try till then.
Also, it’s been my experience those old Stetson Nutria westerns shrink a bit more than others. Just sayin....

Just sayin....

Thanks, B

Careful with that. I agree about the Nutria but I only have personal experience with the one NQ cowboy hat I have and I’ve found that when worn regularly, they stretch back out and conform more to their original size.

This one touches front to back but I’d have to go to the bartender at the +I++Y bar for enough $1’s to fill in the sides. Just not one to do that. Won’t wear an insole or extra socks to help boots fit either. That’s just me.

Take care of that cough.

Just sayin.
