It's not exactly new, because I've modified the hat since I originally posted it. Bought it for $75 from my neighbor.

The original thin leather hatband just wasn't right for my personal taste.

Here's my converted Stetson Roadster with a 1 inch ribbon hat band.

I really like the look of this hat now.

C. Messmer Wien, 59 cm possibly late 1940s. The felt on this hat is fantastic. Also the contrasting black liner and white sweatband in striking. It appears to be have been made by Hutproduktiv Wien (see below). I couldn't find anything on C. Messmer Wien production capabilities.

Based on the paper label the hat was made by Hutproduktiv Wien. The label is in French because Hutproduktiv Wien was located in District XIV which was under French control after WWII.. Here is another example.

Thanks for the research, I love that stuff !

Well I went ahead and removed the onion skin, it was very brittle and starting to tear anyway. Got it all cleaned up and a simple bash for now. I think I’ll keep the brim flat on this one and maybe even try a pencil curl, since I wear my 7XCB with the brim turned down.

It’s a size big for me, but I just put some felt under the sweat and it’s perfect.

Well there you go Tim, just goes to show conservative thinking isn't necessarily the best way of thinking. I wouldn't have removed the onion protective liner, but you've proved it was the right thing to do. That embroidered liner deserves to be seen in all its glory. As long as you don't use too much Brylcreem, it should be safe [emoji6]. Congrats [emoji145]

Fantastic find, Steve. I don't think I've ever seen a white sweat other than in a top hat.

New to me, this interesting all, or mostly wool, 1930s Harald, German Homburg. The third of the three hats I gifted to my self thanks to our favourite Dutch hat enabler [emoji4].

First all wool Homburg I've encountered with a back bow. It rang all the bells for me history, shape, form, make-up wise. Just had to have it. The wind-cord was the icing. Thanks to Stefan for allowing it to be sent my way.

Looks like "tall in the saddle", Steve. A very unique piece indeed!

Ah, that Holland connection still manages to function well!

Another great hat, Brent. How do find time to wear them all?

A great many of us are benefactors of Stefan’s largesse.

Now if I could just find a size 61 Hückel seal velour that I’ve dreamed of ever since seeing Steve post one.

So very cool in many ways. Super high crown, back bow and spiffy innards. I'm in love.

I forgot how tall that hat was. Certainly not your average homburg and I'm glad it found a home with you, Steve.

I’m quite partial to these suede finishes.

Excellent! It has made the journey across quickly. Very glad you like it, Brent. Mayser got it right with this one. I have one that is almost exactly the same. Doesn't mean I'll stop looking though.:)
