3 inch brim, 6 inch open crown with pretty soft and pliant felt, though not as fine as my 100% beaver Excellent Quality New York LE.

I like the bold styling, and bound brim.

I like it too. Are you going to put beads around it?

This 1960s Stetson 3X was stained and in need of some attention, but there was a decent hat hiding there.

Good job, DH! I was just unable to get all of the crease stains out of an OR of that vintage. I'm sure what I needed was cyanide potassiam, but the only place to get it anymore is in the molars of British spies.

A local eBay find at a Thrift store price...and only 10 miles away, no shipping necessary!

Crofut & Knapp straw. (To be honest, I don't know if this is a Milan or Hemp) with a 2 inch brim, 2 1/4 pugg. Seller says 60's model but I don't have enough background on C&K to say one way or the other. Nice even weave and flexible straw, so it should make for a good summer hat. The pugg is not my style and it seems to overpower the short brim, so I'll probably change it during the winter season. This will complement my C&K Panama, also very nice!

Kevin at JJ hat has posted new colors of the Stetson Open Road hats in stock for 2020.

Break out those credit cards

Here's some other new models of Stetson for 2020

I like some of those colors, but isn't Kevin the knucklehead who is aghast anyone would clean their hats in gas?

I called them on the phone and got right through. They are open Tues to Sat. A western weight pure beaver runs $650, knock a hundred off if there's a floor model in you size. Custom runs 3 to 4 months out. I asked about their website and they said it's still under construction. I may stop by his shop later this month while visiting my daughter in Utah. Would love seeing his shop.
I hate it when people can't juggle every ball at the same time.

Visited Amsterdam's biggest carboot-sale this weekend and waded through 750 stalls of mainly second hand and vintage clothing. All of ten decent hats to be found, two if which were worth bringing back with me. This is the first one.
Modern Borsalino in mirtillo colour. Size 56, unlined, with the underwelt brim at 6cm and crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Very lightweight hat at only 82 grams and, for a nice change with Borsalino, this one doesn't run small. And it's blue, so it had to come. There was a period when Borsalino struggled with the quality of their hats. This one has all the quality you'd expect of this brand though.

These dark blue hats tend to look black in most pictures, so I've put it next to a black Stetson Imperial homburg for comparison.

This is the second hat I found this weekend at Amsterdam's biggest carboot-sale. The vendor actually had two of these: one in black and this one (the black one had some staining I wasn't sure I could get out, so I left it there).
Kingson in mirtillo, size 58 with the bound brim at 5,5cm and crown at 10cm at the center dent. Made especially for J. Pul of Amsterdam.
Here is the brand represented on one of their business postcards; Kingson hats America.
ppul_01.jpg

There is however nothing American about this hat as it was made in Italy. I suspect probably by Cervo, judging by the size label. It is possible however that Borsalino was the maker. Firma San Giorgi n.v. was the importer for Borsalino in the Netherlands.
Here's the shop of J. Pul on Muntplein 5 in Amsterdam (note the prominent sign of Brummel's hats, a brand I suspect was also made in Italy).

Anyway. Here's the hat. Lovely simple ribbed ribbon on it.

French made hat in black felt. The producer E.P. (unnidentified for now) was in Chazelle sur Lyon, the capital of the hats production in the Loire district
EP 4.jpg
The hat, from my experience in French production, was made in the twenty or in the thirties
EP 3 R.jpg

The proportions are as follows: raw brim 5,5 cm. open crown at 12,5 and the ribbon is 5 cm.
EP 2 R.jpg

Very silky and malleable felt, it contains a part of wool as most of the hats in that period.
The sweatband, light, is very similar to the Sools Steur has in his collection
EP interno R.jpg

The inside is a worn patch that could one of the numerous producers in the capital of French hats
EP particolare interno R.jpg

Under the sweatband there this paper label write by hand. No indications of size, but it is a 55 cm or 6 7/8 US
No stamps on the sweatband
EP etichetta carta R.jpg

It was used, but for the its age in a perfect shape, no moths, no flaws

It's a beautiful hat, Daniele. Nice proportions to it. Shame about the size.

I still feel guilty to buy two hats absolutely not of my size, but they were too beautiful to leave them
Another arrival from France
JB Velour 5 R.jpg

J&B was the French producer of this hat in black velour. The hatter, was, based on my experience, the best in France in those years
JB Velour 3 R.jpg

From my experience with J&B hats, I have some others made before the WWII was made in the twenty
JB Velour 4 R.jpg

I haven’t the experince of Steve about velour, neither I can’t decipher who made it, but this is fantastic. Soft and pliable, very dense and rich
JB Velour interno R.jpg

The inside is without patch or lining, there was somenthing I’m sure, but not today.
Under the sweatband there are two paper labels: the above and the size tag 4 1/2 or 56 cm.
The golden and embossed stamps on the sweatband are there:

I can tell you that Daniele is depressed for the size of this hat and considers those who can wear it very lucky :)

Two mirtillo hats in one day! Along with cadet, this is my favorite shade of blue. Congrats on the finds!
