Tom and Jerry. The felt is so soft, it really does feel like a pony's nose.

Mr. Disney, or Disney? The liner says Mr. Disney, the sweat says Disney. Could it be that it was made during the transition from Disney to Mr. Disney, or do all Mr. Disney's say Disney on the sweatband?
In any case, the hat was awfully dirty. It took four gas baths to clean it, and I had to replace the ribbon.
Once it was clean, the felt turned out to be very soft and obedient.

First, some perspective: I just posted a 7XCB and a very nice VS rebuilt No. 1 but this is the hat that is putting a huge grin on my face. My Phoenix Hat Company thin ribbon beaver in willow arrived this afternoon! It has a 6” open crown and a
2 7/8” bound brim. The binding and crown ribbon are Silverbelly grosgrain. I’ll have more in the Phoenix thread tomorrow after I put some work in on the crease.

The felt has been misted preparatory to creasing so the felt doesn’t look as fine as I can assure you it is.

To be honest, it’s still a bit snug fitting but I think I can make it work.

That’s a fine hat Brent. It turned out very well. I’m glad you decided to keep it as a 7X CB is a wonderful hat to have. I hope you enjoy wearing such a hat. The felt is lovely.

Thanks, Bowen. I really appreciate your opinions and willingness to help.

When I opened the box today it was warm and I was immediately immersed in that closed up vintage fur felt smell and I loved it. Is that strange?

Very nice Brent. Rick did a wonderful job on that one. I'm looking forward to seeing more of it.

The willow will get the write up it deserves tomorrow.

The VS refurbished Stetson No. 1 was all Art. I gave him wide parameters and trusted him to work out the details. He changed my crease too, and I like his better.

The last of my new hats. I held this one back because it was too small, but not by much. I figured with some (lots) of steam and some time on a block it would be fine.

This is another NOS mystery hat only marked Standard Hat Works De Luxe Waco, Texas. Nothing hiding behind the soft and supple sweat. The felt is very decent, but not exceptional. There are also a few small signs that the greatest care was not taken in its construction. Still, I really like the hat and I’m hoping that a night on the block will give me a good fit.

Excellent hat. I'm looking forward to one of Rick's hats in the coming months myself! [Insert grin here - - - can't wait]

Not at all, Brent. We even found a name for it: capelolfactophilia (it's a harmless affliction, just looks odd when in company of others):)
