Bought this VS from an individual last yr but never wore it much because of the snapped down brim, knife edge lines & deep sunken crease it had. Studied the blocking yesterday & realized I could crease it more to my liking. With some smoothing to do yet I'm going to try this for a while. 2-3/4" bound edge brim x 6" open crown, 1/2" ribbon, perforated sweat.

Ignacio conformed and reblocked five hats for me today.

First, my XXXXX Borsalino MGL. It is a different one from the one Bowen gifted me, and it ran a bit small, so Ignacio added a bit of sweatband. Fits like a dream now. The liner and sweatband are pristine, as is the felt. The bidding went way too high for this one, but I am still satisfied with it.

Third, my fifth Playboy. I bought it 'cause it was cheap. The seller never told me moths had a field day with it, or that the sweat had crumbled.
New sweat, new ribbon, resized, eliminated moth nibbles, cleaned. From a beater to a good hat I am proud to wear, $40.00

Fifth, my second OR Twenty-five. I got the first in my Moonhaul, the second from eBay.

The second was riddled with moth nibbles, and it had a snake skin band, complete with the rattle. Not to my liking, and besides my brother in law took the band off before bringing it to Mexico, to avoid complications with Mexican customs at the airport.

Ignacio doesn't have a wide selection of vintage ribbons, so he installed this one as a temporary, until I can buy some new ribbons on Etsy.

All the nibbles are gone now. He also reblocked it and conformed it.

Stetson 3X Bat Masterson. This is part of the Old West Collection and is the older version made with fur felt (the current hat of the same name is buffalo wool). Even though marketed as a bowler, it do s not have the hard crown of a bowler and I converted it into an outsized western homburg with simple gutter crease and side dents.

Open crown height was just under 6”

The felt is midway between dress weight and western and shows no appreciable wear.

And a thank you to Bowen who gave me the confidence to pull the trigger (I was worried it was going to be wool).

I like what you did with this one. That curl on the brim really gives it some character. Vastly improved.

I could not resist buying this Battersby, which I picked up today at a huge flea market fair in Copenhagen. It needed some tlc and still does, but I hope the difference after some cleaning and steam can be seen.
The brim is a whole 7cm. I thought it was a Homburg when I first saw it. It's very soft though, so not a Homburg. The brim can be shaped (not snapped) down to create a fedora. It just doesn't quite look right as such.
The trim is, for the main part, on the underside of the brim.
The shape, felt, size, style and Battersby liner logo suggests to me that this is a hat from the early 1900s. I'm thinking 1910s. Am I right? Is it a kind of Homburg, fedora, Lord's hat, or perhaps even a poet's hat. Whatever, I like it.

The shape, felt, size, style and Battersby liner logo suggests to me that this is a hat from the early 1900s. I'm thinking 1910s. Am I right? Is it a kind of Homburg, fedora, Lord's hat, or perhaps even a poet's hat. Whatever, I like it.

Two other interesting things about the hat are the fan shaped bow on the sweat band, and the fact that it was sold at a store in Torshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands.

Yeah man! That’s a good looking hat. Don’t count on stiffness as a universal trait for homburgs; some homburgs are quite soft. Whatever it is (I think homburg) Its a looker with nice proportions. Definitely a brim up hat! Great find!

Thanks handsome [emoji4]. I so agree it's a brim up. It just does not work down. My next conundrum is to pinch or not to pinch. Kind of works both ways, but the jury's out at the mo.
