Second one is a very interesting piece. Arlesia in brown. Judging by its fit a size 57 with a brim at 6cm and a crown at 10,5cm at the pinch (if it had one). It is in fact a lords hat in brown and in woolfelt. First one I've seen, ever. French make and pre-war. I'm guessing early thirties, but could well be earlier. The basting stitches are still in, but the sweatband is toast and will crumble just by looking at it. The brim holds its shape very well and has an excellent curve, but the crown is not nearly as stiff and the felt is quite rough to the touch.

Number three. Borsalino Augusta Diamante in a semi-longhair finish. Colour Bismuto, Size 56, with the underwelt brim at 5cm (which I read here is still not considered a stingy) and crown depending on which crease either at 10 or 11 cm at the pinch. The felt is gorgeous and it's a very pettable hat and it takes any creasy with no steam. It's the nice full crown that prevents it from looking like a little (or stingy) hat. The underwelt is done with blind stitching, so the stitches don't show on the top of the brim. If the borsalino label theory holds true this should have been made in 1979.

Number four came in separately from Italy. Daniele spotted this one and rightly concluded I have more than enough grey hats of this shape. For me it made the cut however because of a redeeming quality it has: it's a nutria felt.
Borsalino Nutria Celespo in Opale colour. Size 57, with the raw edge brim at 7cm and the crown 10cm at the pinch. Lined with the crown patch covered with cellophane (love those).
It needs some work because the sweatband stitching is loose and the ribbon is soiled (needs replacement). That felt though...

New 'Boss of the Plains'. Higher crown and wider brim than my other one, but....still too small :( This one is a 7, the older is a Clear Nutria 7 1/8 but is more like a 7. Clear Nutria pics posted below for comparison. I'm very open to trades on either or both, for a 7 1/4-7 3/8 wide-brim old hat. The Nutria has been steamed and re-shaped, but shows the shadows of an old campaign crease and also has a hand-cut slit on either side of the brim, for the strap.

Well, santa claus came early this year and he dropped a box full of goodies on my doorstep. The Holland-America hat exchange program has done its job (quite the opposite of a trade-war) and thanks to Mike @Redfokker there seems to be a steady stream of hats underway. This was one of them (I'm going alphabetically this time).
Adam Feather-Lite in Chrome. Size 56 with the brim at 6,5cm and the crown at 10cm at the pinch. Mike had quite a bit of work done by Mike Miller on this one, because it was in a bit of a state. It was dirty and the sweatband just did not want to cooperate (so it was replaced). The liner or crown patch was missing. The liner is one I had made custom (inspired by Dogmans' efforts). It was worth it: it's a great hat. Not a very light feather though. Weighing in at 98 grams it's quite a bit heavier than the Champ Featherweight I'll post later.

I knew one of your special liners would be right at home in this one!

Wow, this is a true survivor. Interesting color and details. Quite a rare hat indeed.

I loved the finish on this one. I didn't think it was a new as the 70s. It had such a vintage feel to it.

Thanks, Justin. Not in the same league as your finds, but finding these very old ones is always a treat.

Noted, Bowen, and thank you. I know for a fact there are several things you have that I like:)

Thanks, Mike! You were able to handle a few of those so you know about their quality. Borsalino still made excellent hats in the seventies and I'm drawn these days to the nutria felts. It looked quite different in the auction pictures though as far as its colour is concerned:

More of a blue gray. I would have liked that very much, but its actual colour is fine with me.

I'll pick up where I left off yesterday. B is for Brent (it was for Borsalino yesterday). This hat has been seen before here, but it's new to me, so...
Brent in blue. Made for Montgomery Ward. Size 7 with a bound brim at 7cm and the crown at 11cm at the pinch. Glorious blue colour, which is considerably more subdued in the shade than it shows here in full sunlight. A nice touch is the windcord button that is attached to the bow. Looses its function that way of course, but who uses those things anyway?
Many thanks to @BobHufford who gracioulsy let me be the custodian of this hat. I've learned that the "conformatic" emblem on the sweat means that it's made by Byer-Rolnick.

That was five, and here's number six. Cavanagh homburg in "midnite". Listed as a homburg in black and was actually lowered twice in price before it dropped down to $25 I believe. Well, if you're gonna twist my arm...
It is in fact not black (but "midnite") but a very dark blue. It can be seen by the contrast between the black ribbon and the felt here. Size 56 with the brim at 5,5cm an the crown 10cm at the pinch. It's a later Cavanagh but the quality is still very much there. It has been worn, but been taken care of very well. Superb hand to the felt and the finishing is great. The smell lets me act out my capelolfactophilia fully:)
