That's Tawny Fawn? I would never have guessed because the color in that photo looks nothing like my Tawny Fawn Fed IV. On the other hand, we're having a discussion in the I love the Fed IV!! thread about the various ways hat colors photograph, so what do I know? :p
Here’s another angle. The other looks more heritage fawn to me, this one more tawny...

I don't know if you were serious, but yes, it is. Turning 7 stiff, dirty hats into something clean, plush and wearable is actually physically draining for someone my age. Definitely rewarding.
Oh, I was serious. Mine were crushed from having to fold them all in a suitcase, and I steamed and brushed them, conditioned the sweatbands, stretched some a little...
Fortunately, my new haul wasn't crushed.

This hat arrived new long after it was produced in France.
It does not mention the name of the producer, but I believe it was made by the company that was created in the 70s, bringing together all the various hat producers, now in crisis. The execution is excellent and the high-class felt.

A. Meer Concorde feutre impermeable. Size 60. Made in France for a closed shop in Strasbourg, I think it was made by Mossant for the style show
xm02o0.jpg

Medium felt in grey/pale blue with contrasting ribbon in deep blue
rm8msn.jpg

The proportions are: trimmed brim at 5 cm. crown at 10.5 cm. and ribbon is 4 cm.

The basting stitches are still present on the ribbon

It is brend new. New-old stock came from the "A. Meer" field in Strasbourg

I would love to go to the hat shop that sold this hat. If this is an example, I would have to wear a drool bib. Very nice Daniele.

I like my longhairs, but I prefer them less fluffy, Brent. Nice proportions on this hat. If you need the longhair to lie more flat, you could use a velvet cloth or cushion to smooth it out (like they do with top hats).

Good tip on the velvet cloth. That’s a new one for me and I’ll definitely give it a try.

Thing is, living in Mexico, if I asked for every hat to be delivered by Fedex, which is the only trustworthy carrier here, I would have to pay more than 100 dollars per package, and then pay about 30% tax when it arrived.
The Moonhaul was a great opportunity, and I had to get as many as I could. This haul was because my sister in law and her family were going to visit her brother in Texas, so they had the right with Mexican customs to bring several hats each. Daniele sent me nine great hats from la bella Italia, and the rest I had to order quickly, before my sister in law returned.

I will be going on my anual fishing trip to Wisconsin in a couple of weeks, and don't foresee anyone else coming to Mexico I can ask to bring my hat orders to me, so there will be a long hiatus in my hat-buying after that.

Nice Max. The well dressed guy on the sweat is also present on my Hardeman Homburg. Must have been a advertising gimmick for them during the era. Since they closed for good in the early 1950s, yours and mine are probably contemporary and late 1940s.

I just cleaned the sweat in mine with saddle soap. "Jabón de Calabaza", we call it in Spanish, recommended by my assistant. You can see the well-dressed guy a lot better now.
The cloth I used turned brown. That stuff really works!
Ha! I just looked at the pic, and the little guy showed better in the last one. Believe me, the leather is a lot cleaner now, though.

This hat was just delivered. @BobHufford and I both thought this would be in the Beaver brand family, and we were right. I was happy to see the label from the manufacturer to the store where it was sold. The Thoroughbred box indicates the color as Maple Grizzly. The liner and sweat have the store name, and best of all a bucking horse liner!
Just have to get the chicken off of it, get a proper band and crease.
