Twins! Nice looking ones, too!New today, early 1960s Dobbys 2" brim with a TAR. Nice felt for the era, looks to be almost NOS. This hat will be a companion to a Dobbs I found on Ebay early in my hat addiction. The difference is the ribbons, same hat, only different choice on the store shelf.

I am going to have to check out those as it seems the quality is way up there! I like the light leather sweatband, matches the clean over all look of the hat!Second Agnoulita arrived today. More in the dedicated Agnoulita thread:

Very nice gamebird. looks to be in great conditionFirst off: many many thanks go out to Richard Morgan for trading this hat with me (as I'm lucky enough to have the pin-head that is able to wear it). Dobbs gamebird in dark grey heather and longhair finish. This one has all the whistles and bells because it has the "trusize" feature too and a gilt edge. Anything else? Yes: the liner is embroidered! This hat has presence: a wide (almost 3 inch) brim, a pronounced flange and it insisted on the diamond crease. I'll need two postings for this.

SCORE!!!!This Panama was in a lot of ladies' hats that I saw on Goodwill's online auction site. There weren't any detailed pics, and the one of it wasn't very clear, but the description said "Optimo" and it looked like a fine weave so I bid on it. It arrived today. Beautiful hat, but unfortunately damaged. Broken straw in the brim. Don't think it was from the handling by the seller, but a bummer that it didn't show in the pic. Probably would have bid anyway, just to handle an Optimo Panama at a price I can afford.
Here's pics.

And a noggie
Brim 2 1/2", crown 4" in front. 75g. Almost perfect other than that broken straw in the brim. Still gonna wear it!

It's a beauty, Steur. I love the bow.
That's one mean cattleman's crease!Rick, I saw the listing & made note of the condition. I really like the color also. It is similar to Akubra's Taupe Fawn. In low lighting Taupe Fawn does turn a bit more brown than shown below. Michael R has one also. It's a great color & can be worn with most anything but gray.

SCORE!!!!
That is one fine example of a homburg. Just fantastic!Echter Borsalino "Gulaela" Export Qualität, French Point Size 6 1/2, Crown Open 5 1/2 inches, Brim 2 3/8 inches probably later 1950s. The overall condition is excellence. The medium weight "Pomice/Pumice" color felt is fantastic. It easily dry creases and has an fine hand. I didn't take a photo of the paper label but it doesn't have the vertical "Borsalino" on the left side. "Export Qualität" was added around the mid to later 1950s and "Echter Borsalino" was dropped in the early 1960s. "Export Qualität" remained in use until the mid 1980s but eventually fell out of use after the original Borsalino factory was closed and the company was sold.
Open Crown
Had to really look at this one..amazing looking. Colors really help the clean lines of that hat, too!I don't recall if I ever posted this and I'm sure as heck not going to go looking for it.
My Brass Rooster Vintage 125 made from a 1953 Mallory hood. Good luck trying to find a taupe hat today! There will be a matching light blue (unless I pick another color) in my future.

Yes, I thought it was quite different. Wore it tonight at the theater and played with a crease all night, great felt for the era.A stingy thin ribbon. Don't see many. Very cool Mike!
It's quite weird, they are identical in every way except the ribbon. What would make a buyer choose one over the other? I think the thin ribbon is real different for this type of hat.Twins! Nice looking ones, too!
That is a really super nice looking hat, Lee hats are fantastic!
Greetings Chas:
Again, welcome. So, is your Lee as advertised? How do you like the felt? It looks super. Hope your other 2 are as nice. Look forward to your impressions and of course...pics!
Be well. Bowen
Bingo!! And for $35 double bingo! Woulda been a deal for a $100 more. When it first arrived and I opened the box I was NOT happy. I guess this is what you get for free shipping. I was pleasantly surprised and relieved when the hat resumed its shape with a little manipulation. The felt is soft, the hat is light, it fits well, and I love the color. And, for $35 delivered I'm very happy. Before joining this forum I had never heard of "Lee" and would have passed on the hat; however, due to the postings in the Lee thread (which were positive concerning the brand) I took the plunge. Glad I did. View attachment 115239
