That is a beautiful and interesting Homburg Stefan.Picked this one up yesterday. I left it in the shop once before, but these things sometimes haunt me in my sleep (paranomal hat-activity?). It was still there but it looked a bit sad really. But after only a little brushing and steaming it remembered what it was.
Battersby Superior homburg in black, size 58. Quite a wide brim for a homburg at 6,5cm, crown at 11cm at the pinch. Lovely felt and well done finishing. The creases in the ribbon will come out after a little more TLC. The way the bow and ribbon are done make me think it might be even older that the late forties to early fifties I think it's from.

Lovely color and the ribbon/binding is a perfect tone in compliment. The picture of the original shop is really special. Good find. And another interesting find. Mauerer "Super" in blue. It was missing its liner, so I added this one which I had lying around. Size 57, bound brim at 6,5 cm and crown 10,5 cm at the pinch. Mauerer has shop in Vienna since 1873, which still exists today. I visited it a few years ago; lovely shop with a nice old-world feel to it. The hat is a bit roomy for me, but I don't have a Mauerer hat yet and the colour is quite unusual.

Nice, that color is quite a statement! Welcome, looking forward to seeing more of your work.Hi everyone! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Just wanted to share my latest creation, RAGNAR FEDORA by HUFVUD. Just love a good pinched crown.

Looks good with that ribbon, actually it looks pretty darn good all around.I got this close to mint condition 1940's Stetson a few weeks ago. The ribbon never looked quite " Stetson" to me. I just noticed this morning that the word "Stratoliner" is on the sweatband. Whoever replaced the ribbon did a very nice job! Dang Justin, three gorgeous hats in one post. There ought to be a law. The Wilson is special, but they all are.40s Stratoliner thats too small, 30s Wilson in perfect shape (trying to find a fitting thread. I suppose the mallory mile will do since wilson was subcontracted by mallory), and a 40s Stetsonian (moths thought it was tasty, but I'll try to fix what i can)
You amaze me! That Wilson catches my eye.Picked this one up yesterday. I left it in the shop once before, but these things sometimes haunt me in my sleep (paranomal hat-activity?). Thanks , Richard. I think so too. I always liked the looks of the Strat with a thin ribbon but this adds a little something that works just as well.Looks good with that ribbon, actually it looks pretty darn good all around.

Thank you, Mike. And it's in your size too. Fancy that...That is a beautiful and interesting Homburg Stefan.
Mike, thanks. I spent an afternoon a few years ago visiting all the hat shops in Vienna. This is the best one.Lovely color and the ribbon/binding is a perfect tone in compliment. The picture of the original shop is really special. Good find.
Diamond in the rough. Really rough, but a diamond anyway. Why can't I leave orphaned hats at thrift stores? This one should clean up OK and I have several hat band choices to replace this one.

Naw, it just needs a little TLC and a band that doesn't evoke bad memories of the 80s.Diamond in the rough. Really rough, but a diamond anyway.
I think that will be a nice hat. I wouldn't have left it either. Have fun! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.Why can't I leave orphaned hats at thrift stores? This one should clean up OK and I have several hat band choices to replace this one.
