AmazingAnother one of the hat-exchange program. Another Borsalino. Borsalino Angora Gorascu in the colour Misto Grigio (hard to tell from the label). Size 7 1/4 or 58. Brim at 7 cm and crown 11cm at the pinch. Felted edge (feltrato for the Italian hats) and a longhair heather finish that is to die for. Made for the American market. Somewhere along the road it has lost its original liner though. This one broke my heart because it's too large for me. Crying didn't shrink it. My guess is 1930's (I don't think they did felted edges anymore after the war). This was an expensive hat: there's a price tag of $ 20 on it.

This is by far my favorite of the three. Such character! I imagine it was the owner's go-to hat--the hat he wore nearly every day to wherever his life took him, even when it was getting to be a bit "past it's prime". Practical, yet elegant in it's simplicity. If I found a hat like that in my size, I'd be one happy camper.Third one of the hat-exchange. Same orginal owner as the Angora (RHM). Borsalino Savoy in the colour Mogano (mahogany). Brim 6cm and crown 11cm at the pinch and with a windcord. Felted edge and I just realize I was wrong in my previous post about Borsalino not doing felted edges after the war, because this one is from the mid to late fifties, judging by the label. Wonderful felt that easily dry-creases and holds any shape.

Sent directly from my mind to yours.
Gentlemen, thanks. With hats as fine as these it's always hard to pick a favourite. The previous owner sure had taste in hats. This is by far my favorite of the three. Such character!
