C. 1900s Stetson Expo.
Seller didnt know the size, and I cant blame them. The labels are completely faded minus some faint pencil markings.

This expo has a very interesting brim treatment when compared to my others.

The felt color is a grey/green mixture with a brown/deep burgandy/purple ribbon.

Substantial hat Justin! The dimensions of this beauty are so "period" and I like your different creases. The one that I like best is the center dent with the crumpled pinches on the sides. Right out of the early century. Impressive.

@FedOregon brought back some inspiring straw from his trip to Ecuador. I was the beneficiary of one. This is a fun, two tone weave from Homero Ortega. Light as a feather, and air conditioned. It is not a Monticristi, but it is a lot of fun. A little on the loose side, but some hot weather wearing should cinch it up fine. Thanks to Doug for thinking of me (and many other loungers) while having family fun!

Do you all really need to see these pictures again...? Lol. Ok. If so, not full image.
Stetson "High Crown" Excellent Quality Whippet, in "Phantom Grey." Concieved and designed by Matt Deckard exclusively for the Stetson Japanese market. Factory creased. "Its actually a copy of an open crown hat I made for myself" according to Matt. Its boxy crown block was based on a wide oval platform and then put to the specs of one of Matts original hats that he previously created/creased/and pinched for himself as his own personal hat. Stetson actually liked that hat so much (when they saw him wearing it) they asked him to duplicate it for a production run to be targeted for the overseas (Japanese) market. "They saw it on my head and wanted it" says Matt. Whether it will be made avaliable here or is in fact still avaliable (in Japan) is unkown at this time... Matt had to figure out the "logistics" for this beauty from conception and once there, Stetson had to create the molds and block. According to Matt, it's the first new block/mold Stetson has made in "well maybe 30 years" says Matt. A Stetson rep (Jeff Dyer) doesn't know if it will be in the new Stetson 2018 Fall/Winter catalog but has refered to this original Deckard Whippet as a "treasure." This truly is an all original design from Matt Deckard when he was Head Designer for Stetson. I'm proud to own one of his creations. Hope you enjoy seeing it! (Once again.)
