Mike at NW Hats put together a wonderful Panama from the bodies he gets from weavers in Ecuador. Super light weight, a cool edge weave and a ventilated sweat. Picked a rust colored pug for a while, goes well with the natural color. Very happy with the outcome.

One Too Many
And what's the verdict Karl?
well, as you know I'm new to felt hats be it wool or rabbit. I ordered the rabbit felt and expected it to be much softer than my wool felt stetson trilby, the first felt hat I bought new a couple of weeks ago. Yet it is similar in feel, bit better quality, if I had to guess I'd say a medium to heavy felt that could do with further sanding, although I won't. It is very stiff - I redid the crease on the stetson bringing the crown down which softened that up - With this I think I'll show it to the Irish weather for a few weeks first, which should soften it up a bit. By that stage I should have a couple of other fur felt hats to do a comparisson.

oh, the borsallino I bought from the vintage shop in the netherlands is missing. The shop say it was misdelivered over there, even though it had my address on it, and they will get it back next week and send it on then which all sounds very odd.

Thanks. I think the somewhat stiffer felt won't hurt in the Irish weather, because they tend to hold up better. Softer felts can lose shape and droop if they get too wet. Sorry to hear about the borsalino; hope that will sort itself out for you.

Today's delivery is a Brent OR Clone(?). Picked it up for $40 and free shipping, wanted to see if I could pull off the look. Well, I'm not sold, this hat will probably be a conversion project. Plenty of brim at 2 3/4", crown 5 1/2ish. It will also be a moth hole repair training simulator. One all the way through, right in front. Nothing a 1 3/4 ribbon wouldn't hide. It does have a Montgomery Ward price tag $8.50 under the sweat (not in great shape), house brand as I remember.

The slogan on the sweatband seems like Resistol might have been the maker.

Vintage Lee Fifth Avenue "Water-Bloc." Age undetermined.
White Label "Handlee." New in original box. 2.5 inch brim. 6 inch open crown. Originally thought it was a overwelt brim but was pleasantly surprised to find this brim treatment. Forgot what it's called. Cavanaugh or something? Unworn and never creased. Yet... :)

bravo my friend!!!

in my humble opinion your greatest score to date

what a pristine gem ... with a fantastic felted edge

I'd guess 50s ... maybe the early side of the decade ... of course just a guess based on style and the tip protector ... I don't suspect it is any later than that

I read that A. Harris in Dallas merged with Sanger Brothers in 1961 ... so it is before that
