I'm going to run back to the store this afternoon and see if they've restocked. Ha ha. Last one for this lot though.

Stetson 3X with 3 3/4" to 4" brim and something around a 6 1/2" crown. Who can tell me about the model and the age?

I do lie the artwork of the cowboy watering his horse out of his hat, but prefer Dogman's artwork all in all.

That does it for this lot. A good day in my hat world.

Today's finds aren't from the Goodwill. They are from a local vintage store that deals in everything from clothing to furniture to old building parts.

Michael
Ah, that makes sense. I found my wife a Panama hat last week at a little antique shop that has lots of different kinds of goodies.

Model is hard to tell. Hatband could be original or not, who knows.
Age? Late 1970s to modern days based on the liner. Don't know when Stetson "raised" the 3x beaver quality to who-ever-knows-to-what since there is now a 4x Buffalo wool felt.
It's a nice looking hat ;)

You're KILLIN" us here, Michael!! What a roll, sir! Not a bad one in the bunch!

Today the mailman showed up with a nice little find for me, just in time for a last blast of hot weather. KNOX Milan, ca. 1960.

Thanks Joao. I figure the Stetson to be the newest of the bunch and I was thinking 70s or 80s for it. That's on very thin evidence though. I think the Resistol Stagecoach is from the 70s, but again on thin evidence.

Nice Milan.

That was a fair roll there, though the Pilgrim is still the winner of the bunch I think. I think I can at least say I have a workable hat collection now.

It's hard to tell on westerns. It could be 70's or 80's as I don't know when Stetson stopped making 3x beaver hats. Resistol stopped making those on late 80's. Maybe Stetson did the same?
Stagecoach hat line is easier to date since it existed from 1979 to 1982 ;) They have almost 40 years!

I really like those Dobbs West hats. That one is a real looker!

Thanks!
It's a nice hat. I have never seen one before, so I did not know what to expect. An internet search didn't turn up much.
Anyone know when they were made?

The tag inside has a $25.00 price point if that helps.

Dobbs West was a sub-brand of Dobbs created by Hat Corporation of America in 1969 in an attempt to obtain a greater market share in western hats, a market that had generally been a smaller one for Hat Corp. But at the tail end of the twentieth century hat-manufacturing era, it was a last ditch gamble. All Hat Corp. production was moved to their Winchester, TN, factory by 1970 when they closed their massive Norwalk, CT, factory, so yours could have been made in either location. Hat Corporation of America sold their hat brands and got out of the hat business altogether in early 1972. Koracorp, Inc., in Garland, TX, bought them out. Koracorp also owned Resistol, so the brands were now produced at their Garland facility, though yours is definitely a Hat Corporation product, rather than Koracorp. I can't remember if Garland is still making the Dobbs West line, but I think they could be purchased at least until the 1990s, if not later. That being said, your hat was made between 1969 and early-1972. Nice find.
