One of the hats I never show to the Loungers.
It was a recent acquisition
Panizza Ediston size 60 cm. (US 7 1/2 inches)
25am24m.jpg

It was made in Ghiffa - VCO Piedmont region on the border of the Lago Maggiore
2liwq3a.jpg

Very slightly worn it is one of the best hats made in Italy before the downsizeing of the classical hats producers

The felt is incredible in touch and finishing.

Here's the Stetsonian I got in about a week ago. It's in a little better shape than I thought it would be. I was afraid the sweat was going to be toast, or is that bacon? The sweat is really soft and pliable with only the lamination being rubbed off. I gave it about three treatments with Bick 4 before manipulating it much. The color is sort of a dove gray with the band just a little darker and the brim binding a sort of gold color. I assume the band was a bit darker originally, as it looks to have faded. Overall the hat is in pretty good shape, at least to my untrained eye. No mothing and no stains that didn't clean up with a little water and hydrogen peroxide. Some water lines that I cant seem to get rid of. Any info on it would be appreciated.

Had a little time to steam my new Resistol and change the shape of the brim more to my liking. I tweaked the square telescope into more of a round shape, but I'm not sure if I like it or not. Might lean toward more of a cattleman crease in this one.

Edit: Dang, that's a big picture. Sorry about that.

For comparison, here's some shots of the hat before steaming.

Now looks much better. That is the way I like my brims.
The horsehair doesn't look displaced as being thin it makes the crown bigger than it is.
Cattleman vs telescope... cattleman is seen too much. I would leave it as it is.

Strapped, I'm with Fruno. Brim looks great but that shape almost calls out for a cattlemans crease. JMO.

Also, thanks everyone for the comments and likes on the Stetsonian yesterday. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Hey everyone!

This was one of those late night, can't sleep, surfing the Bay for something but you're not sure what kind of buys. Advertized as a Lock & Co. Hatters fine fur felt army green fedora, not much other info, pics were a little fuzzy but the hat looked like a long hair. Under 20 bucks, 4 and change econ shipping, so I thought "what the heck" and bought it.
It arrived today. Quite the light weight crusher with a cloth sweatband, and a very furry finish. Army green is a decent description of the color. In need of a good steaming and reshaping.
As far as age goes, frankly I have no clue if it ws made last century, last decade, or last month. But I still like it just the same.
I'll get better pics when there is better light, and I have reshaped it.

Please pardon the blurry last pic. I found it difficult to hold hat, sweatband and tablet at the same time and take pictures. I had to take the pic with the tip of my nose.

After nearly hitting nearly a dozen antique stores today (searching for a farm table for my wife of course), and looking at least two dozen hats that didn't fit, I found this little thing for $8. I didn't think much of it until I walked out the door, tried it on again, and found I couldn't take it off. I kept muttering all day long, "I love this hat." I think it's because... it has character. It's stained, riddled with moth bites, floppy, and .... nothing like I have.

I got it home and cleaned it up a bit... but not too much. This thing gives me a little of that Johnny Depp swagger. The ribbon looks stained, and in some places it is, but really, different parts reflect different shades of light, depending on the angle. So that's pretty cool. Once I steamed it good and brushed it, it held its shape much, much better. Okay, at the risk of overplaying this, here are the photos....
