Thanks for the appreciations.
Stratcat in Great Britain there are a lot of nice used homburgs on the market.....
If you like more the "continental" let me know, some of them are not my size and I will sell them.

The two blacks arrived early this morning and the grey is one of the sleeper in the cabinet from to much time not to see the light.

They are homburgs in different EU intepretation:

Austrian Peschel

Italian Borsalino

German Brabant

More to come in the Homburg Nation

Great finds! If you get a chance can you also post the Peschel and Brabant in the German - Austrian thread? The Peschel is from the Dinkelsbühl, Germany factory.

New Stetson Royal DeLuxe

20150303_121508_resized.jpg 20150303_121502_resized.jpg 20150303_121549_resized.jpg

I picked this up at the Resistol (and Stetson now also) outlet in Garland. Nice felt. Not thin felt but still malleable and holds dent and brim shaping well.
I have no idea what the felt is supposed to be. I would guess a rabbit/beaver mix of maybe 50/50 but that is SWAG and not based on anything I really know about the hat.
I can say it exceeds my expectations based on what I have seen from them in the last couple of decades.
I don't think the Royal DeLuxe is near the top of their range but it feels it. There is a chance since it is an outlet hat an is hole punched in sweatband, that it may be a Sovereign or other body that failed some QC and was finished with Royal DeLuxe sweatband. It has a very nice leather sweatband.

The temperature is slowly limping upwards and as the thermometer reaches the dizzy heights of 9C here in the north of England I buy my first Panama!:eeek:
It's not so much in anticipation of the lovely hot summer we are going to get here later in the year but for my holiday that I've got planned in August.
I ordered from The Panama Hat Company. The hat arrived in two days, well packed and with a nice freeby too!
Straight from the box

I had the black ribbon swapped for a chocolate one, it softens the contrast a little.

Apologies for the following pictures, they seem a bit pixalated.

and the freeby? A nice little bag. It'll do for the car for when I forget to take a bag to the shops;)

Looks good Stratcat. I bought a Tumi rollable Panama for my holiday last year and I think they look great on an Englishman abroad. I had another new hat delivered today, an Olney crushable fedora in sable all for £35 delivered. Bargain! Not a bad hat for the money I think and ideal to stuff into my daysack when on my travels.

Does it have a paper label? It could be a prototype.

Agreed. I have to say that I'm very impressed with the quality of the felt. Stiff in the brim, just stiff enough in the crown. Best formed with a touch of steam which is what I did with the brim. The crown, I hand shaped and then set with steam. I might redo it steaming first though to smooth it out a bit. Maybe put in a bit more drop to the brim front. Quality liner with plastic shield, buttery sweat, somewhat nondescript band but I love it. No-nonsense and I'd be happy to wear it almost every day it 's that comfortable and sharp.

Nice Olney Jim, spot on for its job.
Can't fault a Fed IV Ginseng. You've done a good job of the bash.
