Robert, Fantastic! Would it be possible to see a close-up photo of the liner mark? Also do they have paper labels? Thanks!

Thank to all.
What size are those? I really like the look of them. They look to sit a little high, unless you just plopped them on the noggin. VERY nice, Robert!!
These are 7-1/4 but have contracted slightly as the ribbons are a bit loose and a slight draw in on the sweatbands-a blt less than 1/2 size. Up-brim also always looks higher as it shows more space.

The bands did not like Lexol(first time outside of dry rot issues) and actually stiffened slightly rather than further soften. They were soft before application.

I found a Wormser Custom Quality at a yard sale on Sat. Maybe '60s as far as its age. The color is kind of a brownish gray in a 7 1/4.

Today I was really surprised to find a Royal DeLuxe Stetson Open Road in a store that I've gone to a thousand times & found nothing to write home about.
It is easy to see why we like these vintage ORs so much. Soft, pliable felt, a nice 2 3/4" snap brim, a cord to hang it up with?? Anyways, I am a 7 3/8 and this fits like a 1/8 so I will find someone who wants a wearable hat. Unfortunately, somebody put a dab of green stuff on the backside of the sweat by the little bow. It has a couple other small drips of it near the scene of the crime and just touch of it on the binding at about 10 o'clock on the brim. None of these would really bother me if I could wear this as a daily driver but I can't stretch this one 2 whole si

RLK, very nice Mossant! I like the look of that one on ya!

Dober, two great lids!

Monte, The cord, if I am thinking of where it should be (around the base of the ribbon), is called a Wind tolley. It is used to connect into a button hole to heel the hat on your person should the wind try to take it way. Hard to tell without the other photos. Very nice finds!!

...sizes. I can't believe some of the high bids on ebay since I've recently made the move to visiting their site....(I just made my first e-bay purchase a couple weeks ago...or should I say, first "win"?)
I will probably not be winning any $300+ lids anytime soon. Maybe someday when I am not making mortgage payments.

Yes Sir, Justin...haha. I was joking about the vintage nature of the trolley cord. It had a cattlemens crease and I bashed it into a front pinch to show you how I like it. I sure wish it was my size. I guess the more modern 7XCB I found is pretty much a non-labeled OR style which fits well and will do for now. I really like the dimensions. A good find but not a great find for my head.

RBH, I would bet the green stuff was poured into the back of the sweat which has seperated from the hat about an inch or two and a bit was dripped onto the brim and then wiped on the binding for good measure. If it is factory to the hat I would be very taken to school.

Hahah! I do know the feeling! The green is common on vintage lids, and as has been said prior to me isthat is has happened from sweat. I hate it, as it can ruin a reed, and seperate the sweat from the hat... and it can also go through the felt... bleh!

Robert - I like the looks of the Mossant, very cool hat.

doberdad - nice pair of W&W you have there. I also have a W&W Panama (mine previously owned by fellow Lounger, Aureliano) which is a super hat. We don't get to see enough of them here at the Lounge!

Monte - that is a good looking OR. Several of my vintage hats have the same issue with a little green corrosion.

... green goop that leaks out and gets on the brim in droplets....just nasty. Well, I am still capable of learning then (Hopefully that trait will continue).
Thanks to David, RBH and Justin.
I don't catch every hat post so I'm sad if I missed your wedding hat pics, RBH.
It looked like a very cool hat. My custom made, black hat made a good match with my wedding suit as well.

The liner has plastic over the logo, the cord is there, it was $13.95 brand new. What age is this labeled Royal DeLuxe Stetson OR???
By the by, I researched the Men and Boys' clothing store which was Glickson's and the man who has his name embossed onto the sweat in two different places. He passed at the age of 69 in 1981.

Just came today. Vintage Dobbs milan, 2-1/8" brim, near mint. Tagged 7-1/4 and fits perfect. Versatile tan-color, with sweet greenish-gold raw-silk pugaree. $67 delivered. This one is going to get a lot of head time this summer!
