You place the bottom of the hat on the top of a lamp shade opening and turn the light on. The sweatband can be in or out. Steam can be applied to the outside around the ribbon prior. You need to watch closely so it doesn't get too hot and ruin the sweatband. It can be very risky so I wouldn't recommend it.

I tried steaming it and cooling it, folded out. Helped a little, but the hat still "looks" a little big sitting on my head. Will probably shell out a few more bucks and ship it to Falcon Park Hattery or Northwest Hats.

Get it done by a pro. My experience with the lampshade technique is that I can leave the hat on there for days without any effect whatsoever, except maybe making the hat dustier.

I did accidentally leave the hat sitting on top of a boiling pot of water once, to let the dogs out "real quick" and came back to a completely shriveled sweatband that wouldn't fit on a kitten's head. Yeah, that one you've got to watch closely!

The lampshade trick worked quite swimmingly for me, although in my case, it was a hat that had been stretched a bit too far, so it was probably eager to shrink back a little bit.

I wet the sweat a little bit, and put it on the lamp. Shrunk a large 7 3/8 to a smaller 7 1/4 so it fit my head. Just have to check it over and over so it doesn't become destroyed.

Nice color...never seen that. I found a couple of gray Pilgrim stingies I use for beaters with 2 inch brim...seem to be well made.

Without a doubt one of the most beautiful hats i've had come into my possession unfortunately this one is 6 5/8 and will have to go in the classifieds much to my dismay. Just seeing it in person was easily the worth the price of admission though.

Heres a second one that came in today and thankfully this one fits like a peach and was an amazing deal, it will require a new sweatband soon though. I believe this is a 50's to 60's Knox Premier with embroidered liner. Very lightweight Bowler, I'll have to weight it a bit later. Very square profile to this one.

i have 2 questions about stetson that i received today
the felt is really really soft, how can i make it a stiffer?
my borsalino is stiffer and i dont change the shape of the crown when i touch it but when i touch this stetson i change the shape
and anybody knows from which decade is this hat from?
