I've got to look up in Larry Niven's "Known Space" what he suggested the names of the outer Solar planets would be (in the story, he tells us there were 3 or 4!).

A planet the same size or slightly larger than Pluto was discovered in the Oort region back in 2003 which was named "Sedna". There were a few others discovered which are smaller, Eris, Haumea, and Makemake. It seems that Native American spirits/deities would be the basis of the naming convention for bodies in that region.
