This is what my bf uses and it is the best pomade I've seen. The best thing is that it is WATER SOLUBLE-scientifically formulated to hold like wax, yet, wash out like a gel. I've noticed this stuff is the best for a nice pomp. Most of the other stuff clogs the pores causing receding hairlines and hair loss. I also noticed he doesn't break out on the back of his neck anymore from the grease.

My husband sports a pomp with a DA in the back. I cut his hair for him. TOO much grease for the barber. He has to get my approval in grease. Some smell awful. Murry's and Black n White smell the best. He mainly sticks with Murry's.

If you live with a girl make sure you have your set of pillow cases.

Now that's a true greaser, if he never washes it out. I bet you would like the smell of Sweet Georgia Brown, that is some of the best smellin pomade I ever tried. I finally got tired of my job giving me hell about my pompadour and went for an old fashioned taper cut, (like my uncle's pic in my avatar). I still have a quiff to grease and it's alot easier to maintain! Glad to see you got back to Wisconsin, last time I chatted with you about aquariums you were still in Atlanta.

Yeah, I have tried Layrite. Here's my take on it. 1st it's expensive, it has a kinda vanilla smell (not bad). The water soluble thing is true, if you rinse your hair with water or shampoo it washes right out, so if your caught in a downpour it's gonna come out, and if you like alotta pomade in your hair (which I'm sure your husband does) it get's expensive. I like to slick mine pretty heavily too, I like alot of shine! So that's my take on layrite, I think it's great for guys who wanna be able to wash it right out, but it does not give the traditional feel of a petroleum based pomade and it's harder to comb thru once it sets up. So do you have some pics of you two together?? I wanna see this greasy pomp you maintain with TLC!! LOL.. You must be one cool wife, my girlfriend is constantly griping that our bed is greasy, it really grosses her out to run her hands thru my hair, which is fine.. I don't like my hair messed with when I take the time to slick it up just right. Stay Warm!!

I think it almost smells like angel food cake! I like it, but nothing beats the smell of Sweet Georgia Brown!

Layrite does smell decent, but as mentioned earlier if you mess with your hair at all during the rest of the day it brushes out like gel (and my hair gets sort of frizzed from this). Maybe it is just me, but I have a habit of combing my hair through out the day so I need a slight "grease" factor of some sort. I have been experimenting by combining pomades with other products (i.e., Crew Pomade with brylcream or Groom 'n' Clean). Does anyone else have to heat (usually microwave for 10-15 seconds) American Crew Fiber? I sometimes use the Fiber as a base but I have found it easier to apply if I heat it up beforehand.

Yeah Scott, sometimes I have to heat mine up with a blowdrier (like when I use AGS 90 weight). I also mix heavier pomades with dressings some times too. Last night I wanted a really greasy shine so I mixed some wildroot with my pomade. Wildroot has little to no hold, but man does it shine!! some of the greasiest stuff I've seen.

You two make a cute couple!! The pomp is fine, it gets hard to maintain it when it gets that long, I've been there, when mine was that long I rarely washed any grease out, I just kept applying more!! Yeah, I like the smell of black and white, but it does melt easily.

I know it's a cheat, but I used regular hair-spray on my barnet. blowdry and style with your hands on clean hair, then hit it with the hair-spray when you're happy where it's at.

I forgot to add my two cents to this thread. Back when I was a freshman in college I started using Murrays. The stuff worked great for the time, but when I returned home I found I could achieve better results with just a hairdryer. I don't know why, but when I use the pomades and such it makes my hair so heavy the whole gravity defying doo collapses into itself.
Proof-Here's me at the end of a windy day, with normal, ungreased hair.

I never came close to hair that ridiculous with Murrays. Or anything else for that matter. Maybe it's just me?
