A full on back picture would help. I am used to seeing a "Yoke" section on the back below the shoulders, about where the shoulder blades would be on Western wear. I don't know if that is a later or regional feature.

Will you get a Bolo tie?

You better have bought this by now!

I am just waiting for the seller to email me a final price. Thanks for all of the comments. I live in the Northeast where we have farmers not cowboys. I need a ranch now.

And NO BOLO tie! LOL

Again thanks for the input. I found a similar coat being sold online made by the same company that TOTALLY looks western.

A beautiful example of a 1940s western suit jacket. I thought i saw this one, and it was with a pair of trousers? The waistband treatment will be amazing! Crossed or tunnel belt loops, horizontal pockets, the works.

I have a suit in a very similar style, but without the action back.

People are saying it looks 70s because of the stitching around the edges of the lapels and collar. This is a look that the 70s actively tried to copy, and it's one way to get cheap vintage from the eBay sice many people who don't really know their stuff will shy away from this stuff (the stitching is by no means limited to western wear.).

If nothing else, the labels should certainly tell you this is old.

Yes! Plus the material looks like gabardine, which is highly desired.

Is that the construction where the sleeve meets the shoulder? I've never seen that before.

Sort of, it's that flappy area where the sleeve meets the back. They were often seen with belted backs.
WW2 American uniforms put them to good use. Here's an M39 enlisted man's jacket with belted back and bi-swing back in action. They give greater flexibility.

As for the jacket in the OP, snag that thing! It's awesome, I love the SB with peaked lapels and the white gabardine. Make a nice travel jacket, I think.

Looks 40s to me as I bought a field and Stream that is cut just like that same pockets lapels and back. It was from the 40s. If it fit buy it.

Bad news is that I had to pass on the coat. I usually take a 41R and this coat was a half an inch too small across the shoulders. Grrrrrr!
