What does everyone have planned? I unfortunately have to work Monday so I don't have a 4-day weekend *but* I am going to a show and camping this weekend at the Terryville Fairgrounds for the 3rd annual Rumble in the Country. Camping and vintage clothing and hair don't mix very well! Alas, I shall try.

Anyway, share your plans!

I have Monday off, so I'll be trying to finish up my edits on the novel the agent wants to see. And hubby and I are going to put our house on the market, so we'll be carpet shopping and paint shopping, too.:eusa_doh:

Selling is the WORST! Especially right now. In the past few months I tried to sell my condo but ended up renting it instead. :eusa_doh:

Canada Day

Despite Canada Day is Saturday I get Monday off so I think it will be a little trip down to Reynolds to take Alanah to her first museum.:)

This weekend is probably going to consist mainly of getting my yard back into shape! I've kind of neglected it and well, I'm tired of looking at a neglected back yard! Tonight the family and a group of friends are going out on our boat and relax. Monday, I head south to Reedsport for a family reunion...which is also my grandparents anniversery:)

It's a workin' weekend for me. I've just finished setting up an exhibit of my vintage radio memorabilia in the lobby at the theatre, to celebrate the opening of "Prairie Home Companion" tonight, and I'll be on hand this evening to be interviewed about old-time radio by the local Public Radio outlet. I'll be working in the projection booth tomorrow, showing PHC for the early performance, and then on Sunday we're doing a special presentation of "Gone With The Wind" in honor of the first anniversary of our reopening. I'll be giving an introductory talk for that performance, putting the film into historical perspective and discussing how it was presented when it was first shown here in 1940.

Naturally, I shall be dressed for the occasion!

Things on the schedule for this long weekend: (My wife gets Monday and Tuesday off so I am taking Monday as vacation to match.):
Restock the larder after going camping last weekend.
Clean the house in anticipation of friends visiting on Monday.
Playing tour guide in the City for said friends.
Setting up the work bench to build a couple of camp boxes for a different set of friends.
Making a couple of pitchers of sangria and a large paella.
Watch _1776_ and toast the founders portrayed therein.

I'm working Monday, but off Tuesday. I'm planning on walking a few blocks over towards the Tarrant County Courthouse and watching the fireworks going off over the Trinity River.

Well, my standard box is a simplified variation on the 10th C. carpenter's chest found in Maestermyr, Sweden. It is a simple 6-board chest which I build out of 1x12 pine. The basic dimensions I use are 1'x1'x2' and I do not batter the ends. A more historically correct version can be seen at:

Although its size is restricted by the width of the lumber, I have found that a series of these boxes pack better in a vehicle that a few larger ones. Also, being smaller, they are more easily carried by a wider variety of people. They are also sturdy enough to be used as camp benches.

For everyone else, my apology for straying off-topic. I do not aspire to be Cavalier in this matter.
