I'm pretty gutted over this, as it was going for a decent price. Just my colour too! I was already imagining what I would look like in it (how sad is that!!).

With my chestnut coloured full English brogues and my brown beaver Knox fedora, it would have looked stunning. NOT to be I guess :-(

I could have just about afforded it, and then it was snatched. But I went to my financial limit and not beyond. Damn I could have cut such a dash in that beauty, the Auld Irish Blade would be back in town!!

PS: Had a nice chat with Bruce the other day and he was telling me about his 60th! Such a gent. And very proud of the Doctor in the family.

You m,ight consider two things. Write the seller and tell him if the buyer flakes, let you know.

Write the buyer and tell him if it doesn't fit, let you know.

Also, maybe ask the seller, Roberto, He is a lounge member actually, but not an active one, if he has anything else like that he might sell you. He has a lot of good stuff.

What is the deal with ebay uk? Does it have a totally different set of item auctions. I know this seller is in California. Did he list simultaneously in both?

No, he only listed his auction in (U.S.) eBay.com ... but (British) eBay.co.uk's search engine picked him up on its radar. It happens.

Unless the buyer is also a seller, there's no way for you to contact him/her. eBay doesn't give you the tools to.

I did it just the other day. Miossed out on a black pinstriped suit and wrote the buyer.

have also read a post in another thread where some woman said she had been contacted by people with nasty comments when she won an auction.

Unless things have changed recently or I am crazy, it can be done.

Of course you could always contact the seller and ask him to pass it along. I am sure the buyer would not mind having hte option if it doesn't fit.

Maybe a little off topic, but it seems to me that there is w weakness in partitioning like this. Buyers don't get all options and sellers get less exposure. For the same reason that other auction sights don't catch on. when I list I want every person in the world to see it. I don't want to lose a potential buyer who is only browsing ebay afghanistan.

When searching Ebay US, it will often pick up UK auctions when the seller has selected the setting that says he or she will ship worldwide. I assume the reverse is true, as well.

Though that isn't conclusive...I've searched Ebay UK for things where that wasn't the case, but when I sent a message to the seller they said they'd be happy to ship to the US.

I won a horribly listed suit a couple of weeks ago for just a few bucks, to take a chance. It turned out to be a bust (100% polyester, straight outta the 1970s), so I contacted the person I outbid and sold it to him for what he bid on it.
