Pinstripe Suit without Pinstripe Pants? (and Daniel Cremieux)

Firstly, excellent forum! Just now getting into suits and Fedora's and there is an amazing wealth of information here that is very much appreciated.

I'm a complete novice and tried to do my best with the search engine and the stickies, however there's still some questions.

Firstly, is it acceptable to wear a pinstriped suit without the pants that came with it? If so, what kind of pants?

Secondly, i'm in the market for a nice suit and was initially planning on spending about 7-800 but found a few on sale at Dillards that are quite nice. One of them is a Daniel Cremieux suit that's nice looking but doesn't fit as well as the Boss suits they have, yet is significantly cheaper ($414). The question is what is the quality of Cremieux suits, and is 400 a good deal on one? I'm sure you need more information (what kind of suit, fabric) and I'm going back tonight to get that, but i'm curious if anybody can ballpark some advice.

Thirdly, what would be a good way to get a nice suit for around 400 (or less if possible) bucks and what brands are quality to look out for?

Hi Abhay. While I cannot answer your question, I did want to say that I purchased a Daniel Cremieux single breasted suit from Dillards several years ago - it wears very well and they did a decent tailoring job at Dillards.

By the way, I am in Wichita. Good to see another Kansan here!

Regards,

Matt

Depends on how bold the stripes are and how contrasting the pants are.

If you have a navy jacket with stripes and a pair of off white linen trousers then great.

A color too close to the jacket looks as though you were trying to make a match. Grey pinstripe jacket with black pants also looks nice.

What color jacket are we talking about?

I have been flipping through images of old RL rigs at work, and I've also seen pinstripe jackets and pants matched with checks/windowpanes of a different scale. I.E. wide chalkstripes with windowpane pants. May be a little too fashiony, but if you can pull it off, I thought it worked.
As Matt said, the main thing is contrast.

Contrast is a good point. The suit is brown with thin gold pinstripes which end up making the suit look bronze rather than brown. I'm wondering if white or cream colored pants would work.

Anybody else with experience with a Cremieux suit? What might they be comparable to or what might be a better brand I can get for around the same price point? (i'm mainly looking for a style that is a more form fitting athletic cut)

Thanks again for the suggestions.

EDIT:

I also have a Black suit with white pinstripes.

That sounds fine.... I'd try the brown one with khakis. I think they'd tone in better with the brown than white, plus white trews are the very devil to keep from looking grubby far too quickly!
