Pin Holes in Leather

You can see them once you know what to look for . If you enlarge everything gets pixelated . I didn’t go over it like that cause of the resolution didn’t allow it , she said it was in VG condition and I did ask her about any unusual smells like cigarettes or musty garage. But not holes and she didn’t offer that. Btw this purchase from FB market paid PayPal not eBay .

Sorry didn't realize it was FaceBook. That is too bad, and more difficult to make a return with.

Many who have used "FB Marketplace" have wound up with issues, so it's buyer beware, as always.

You can try to dispute via Paypal, you have 180 days I believe. My experience with FB Marketplace has been good, I bought an almost-new pair of Vibergs for $150, also using Paypal. I spent the next few days beating myself up for being a greedy naive fool when the seller postponed the shipment by a couple of days. But then the Vibergs showed up as described, a gift of easily $200... A lottery, it is.

Those holes are unacceptable and should have been disclosed. It’s noticeable in the low res picture but only if you were looking for them.

The "Make sure you examine the photos carefully!" practice a lot of sellers resort to is hideous. If there's something to say, just say it.

Personally, if the jacket is not particularly vintage or unique, I can't handle the pin holes or any holes in the leather for that matter. I have sold a few for this very reason. For some reason, in my head, a leather jacket that has been punctured in almost anyway is basically ruined. There is nothing you can do but sew a patch over it, crudely attempt to fill the holes, or simply ignore/live with them. I can't bring myself to do any of these things. Very anal I know........

What I have done for a long while now is to rely on a Leather Jacket Questionnaire I made up several years ago (Nothing ground breaking here--I'm just mentioning my approach and I'm sure I'm not alone...). Its just a saved detailed list of questions and I use it in its entirety or modify it omitting some questions when the information has been already been provided by the Seller. I especially use this when a Seller posts no or incomplete measurements. The list of questions asks for specific measurements and a description of how to come by each measurement along with photos showing what I mean. I ask specifically about the main zipper especially the tape condition near the male side/pin. The last 2 questions deal with whether it has any cigarette or other tobacco odors, AND WHETHER IT HAS ANY HOLES. I go so far as to ask the Seller to look in specific areas for holes (Lapels, Shoulders, Upper Chest Front both sides) and specifically ask if there are any pin holes from pins or stitching holes from removed patches of any kind.

I generally do this on eBay not on FB as is the case with the OP here. It basically sets up a case whereby I am placing the burden on the Seller to disclose these things so that if the jacket DOES have these punctures, the eBay dispute is open and shut in my favor once they review the messaging. I have had to return a handful of jackets this way and there has never been an issue. Ever. Many times, the Seller even apologizes for not seeing the holes and things go amicably.

Of course, I have bought jackets in spite of these issues when the jacket is worth it to me (most notably Cop jackets).

In this particular case, I would have asked specifically about those possible holes based on the posted photo low res or not. Better safe than sorry. I have asked about discoloration, holes, tears etc. based on a photo that MAY show these issues and usually the Seller will say these are camera or lighting illusions and no actual issue exists. They are then on the record saying this in case there ends up being an issue after all. Several years ago, prior to my using this premade question template--I was burned (sort of) on a Fidelity Police jacket that ended up having Boston Metro patches removed and it was kind of a bummer for me. However it WAS a lesson to always ask about such things in the future. Experience is the best teacher after all.

Sometimes, it sure is a pain in the A$$ to be so darn picky though.
