Pike Bros N1 Fit Question.

Howdy folks. I wanted to ask what a good fit for a Pike Brother N1 would be. Im about a 42-43 inch chest, and normally don't like wearing a size 44 because I don't like too much extra chest room. I was just wondering what size N1 I should order, the Medium or Large. Their Medium measures 59cm (23 1/4in) pit to pit, and the large is 63 (24 3/4in) pit to pit. I feel like the Large might be too baggy and the small might be snug. So my second question is how is the N1 fit in terms of mobility. If I went with the Medium would I still be able to move without getting all bound up across the shoulders, or is it an old school size where you have to size up? Thanks for the help gang.

Hi Xopher. We are a similar size, I'm a 43 chest. I bought a PB N1 in large and wished I had gone a size up as its a pretty neat fitting jacket. If you are more 42 than 43 I would go large, if 43 I would be inclined to go XL. It does have a pile lining which adds to the neat feel and that will bed down a bit but I would still go the XL if I bought one again. I would also not have gone waxed khaki as it gets grimy and is a task to clean. Great jacket tho and seriously Clyde built.

Hi Peter,

I used the instructions on the Barbour website which suggests just warm water. It cleaned them but not overly well. I think it may be because some of the marks are indigo dye from a pair of gustin jeans I had just bought so you might get better results if it's just day to day marks.
I've since bought a Buzz Rickson N1 courtesy of another forum member. A much better jacket although I don't think I could justify paying the shop price for it.

On a side note, from memory your Scottish Pete? If so, have you got an interest in the coming Scottish Cup?

I am a 48 Long. I have a PB N-1 in XL.
BEING 6'-4", I could use more length in arms and torso, but the XL works.
If you have a more "normal" build, sizing should be easy.
Note that they have two ranges of N-1 - older models were sized like 42, 44, 46. New models are S, M, L etc.
Great jackets. Good luck!
