In the future i'm getting an aero, and the one that i feel is the best choice is a highwayman. I typically prefer black jackets, as i wear black boots and dont really like too much wear show, more common in brown shades. Does anyone have any pictures of a black highwayman? Preferably in the heavy steerhide. But anything works.

Circling back all the way to the Original Post here. If you want Black, I won't try and sell you a blue, red, maroon, brown or zerbra striped anything. :)

I think a basic black Highwayman is an awesome, very cool jacket. I personally prefer a zip-sleeve Highwayman. I have only two basic types of jackets that are button up - denim and a Wool Filson Cruiser. Otherwise, it's all zippers for me on any jacket I own.

I would just encouarge you to read up, review old posts, search for images, and then see how they fit you. Since you indicate black boots as standard fare, I think you would love a black jacket to start with. You can always add more colors later on. Good luck with your search!

Has anyone tried Aero’s “soft black steerhide”? I’m curious about it. Will it hold it’s color longer? Will the sleeves crease up?
The Connolly is my favorite Aero leather to date, I wonder how it compares.

@handymike the Route 66 I just Ebay’d is made from “Soft black Steerhide”

It is indeed very soft and has a sheepskin feel to it, very comfortable and wearable from the start...

it has a pretty uniform grain and it appears to be dyed completely through.

The sleeve creasing is Subtle at least initially.
It’s a nice lighter weight option.. I’m happy with it.

Thanks @Boyo!
That looks great! And perfect for what I’m now thinking could be the ultimate Aero!
Based on a Seabiscuit, but with a 1 piece back, lowered side straps, and highwayman styled cuffs with zips to trim them down.
