Hmmm, if this new jacket is 3-3.5oz then it is a heavier leather than what schott use in their 618 or 641. Before you buy it treeman verify this with schott.
You bet I will Harris. I also want to confirm that they stopped fusing the horsehide.Hmmm, if this new jacket is 3-3.5oz then it is a heavier leather than what schott use in their 618 or 641. Before you buy it treeman verify this with schott.
Let us know what they replied. I am curious to see if indeed this is a thicker leather. I have a 618hh, the leather is much lighter than an aero fqhh or even schott steerhide but still an amazing leather. I had posted a thread with some photos some time ago, regarding grain and creasingYou bet I will Harris. I also want to confirm that they stopped fusing the horsehide.
According to Jerri at Schott....it's
the same horsehide, they only use one.
Hey Andy...6000 miles away!! Glad you have your 141 with you. The reason for the pics was to see how the horsehide was breaking in so far. I could see from the orig. pics that it was a couple sizes too big. So in that case you prob didn't wear it that much in which case it's not broken in. Listing it in TFL classified would be a good idea. Anyhow if you got pics of the horse putum up... You in the 141 too!! It's all good!!
I was bummed out a little that it was the same HH....I thought this was Schott increasing the thickness of there HH to keep up with the competition. Schott says it's lighter weight hides are 2.5-3oz and there heavyweight is 3-3.5oz. So in reality you could get a lite weight @ 3oz and a heavy @ 3oz. So if they get a batch of 3oz leather that lasts them 6 months of jacket making...that's what you get. On the other hand your friend could have the same jacket as you and his is 3.5oz., and his looks better and feels thicker.
