Thanks, rrog...your experience with the two is very helpful. While I really want an open crown, the Stylemaster looks much more my style...and I love the look of the bound brim. Now, do I really want to wait 3 months for it...

Hats Direct has them in stock, IN MOONSTONE!!!. they have Acorn, Steel Grey and Moonstone that I know of. They may have other colors that aren't listed (moonstone is not listed as well), but email them and they'll tell you what they have on hand.
You'll get it in about one week.
I ordered a Moonstone on Friday morning and it shipped out that day.

My stylemaster from HD will be here any day, and since it was a backorder situation for several weeks, I've forgotten what color I ordered (I want them all, you know). I'm pretty sure I went for grey, since I don't have a grey hat, but now I'm even more excited to get that box and see what's in it! Z

Now you know how I feel! I intentionally ordered a Fed 4 in Moonstone, and got the same reply. Second choice was the Stylemaster. Not too bad for a second choice.
I'll still probably get the Fed when they come in in April. shhhhhhhh

After e-mailing Hats Direct early this morning, I just received the same e-mail from them, jecoe. Looks like we 59s will have to wait for that Moonstone...but at least not a full 3 months.

Thanks so much for posting these pix. They clearly show the shade of gray felt and the ribbon, too. (I hadn't known if the ribbon was gray or black). Now I really do KNOW that I have to order one for myself! ... And maybe one in acorn fawn, too.

Sam at EA told me in an email I received just this morning that the standard ribbon on a moonstone Stylemaster would be black. \

It's a 57 btw.
Yep, same white lining. HD said they had not seen the red lining in a year or so. [huh]
The ribbon is a very dark charcoal grey. It looks black unless you are right up to it in bright light.

Maybe it's just the same "same-color" ribbon that they usually put on the mid-Grey Stylemaster?

Last week I ordered a moonstone Stylemaster an 2 other hats at EA and send Sam an email with some request (red lining and mid-fray ribbon). Got following answer back the next day :

Hi,
Thanks for your new order, great to hear your other hats are doing their job. I have made sure that the hats will all have red lining and the moonstone stylemaster will have a mid grey hatband. I will email you once the hats have been sent.

I ordered a Moonstone Stylemaster last week knowing it was going to take three months.

That contrasting ribbon just wasn't reaching me, so I requested it with a corresponding color ribbon. We'll see how it turns out in ... May? June?

(Yes, it did occur to me that I could have had it shipped sooner and spent the extra time looking for my own ribbon, but [huh] oh well)

After I exchanged emails with Sam at EA about the ribbon color, I asked Ron at HD the same question. He said the default ribbon on the moonstone Stylemaster is dark gray.

So, either Sam is mistaken, or there might be a difference in the moonstone Stylemasters ordered by these two retailers. I tend to think that Sam remembered wrong.

Either way, you can specify which ribbon you want - and because WE've ordered so many Stylemasters in moonstone there will be a wait. They are swamped! I was told 60 days at HD, up to 3 months at EA.

wow...I'm glad I found this thread...was curious what it looked like on someone and I may end up buying this style for my husband! What a great looking hat!
