This weekend was a small WWII event at the train depot area in Dennison. Reenactments, vendors, vehicles and a pretty good crowd for a hot and muggy day.
During the War, soldiers who crossed the country by train en route to their embarkation point would grab a quick canteen of water when the train stopped. The folks in Dennison took it upon themselves to do better, meeting the trains at all hours and providing coffee, donuts and sandwiches for the men for free. The story goes that word spread, and the depot became known as "Dreamsville." Personally, I wonder if there wasn't some other entertainment that drew them there. But that's me. Just sayin'.

I was portraying "discharged last year." Khakis, tropical shirt and A2, which made me sweat like the Amish horse that A2 probably used to be. No pics of the sweatage....

Thanks for posting those Scott. I reenact WW2 too and I know most of the people in the pics. In your second post, your US pics, that's my reenactment unit, 4th Armored. www.tinyurl.com/xpom is our website.
The Luftwaffe display belongs to my friend Harry. Now he's a guy you go have a beer with!
We were going to buy one of those BMW motorcycles last summer but right before we were to go buy it, I found out I was preggo. So, no motorcycle. :(
I'm sorry I missed it. Nice weather you had.

I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you! This was my first-ever such event and it would have been really helpful to have someone around to help explain what I was looking at.
I saw several items in the vendor tents to covet, but all in quite small sizes. Everyone I spoke with was very friendly!

Next year they're focusing on the Korean conflict.
