The first one looks really cool and the Wildfang one would perfectly match a Electric Leather Studio or FW Hipsters Reunion jacket...not sure how yours would match that colour

I don't think the grey would work with that shade of brown, but if they have anything in burgundy or bordeau... then it is a match made in heaven!

Here's one pic of the Meindl Daytona deerskin rough out jacket and trousers...a German actor is wearing them

Looks very cool! I need to first recover from the excesses of the festivities and lose at least an extra 2kg on top of them. If I manage to do that, I will order it immediately! :D

Fakealpha have been around since the 70s-80s hunting vintage so not surprised to see they have the knowledge and the connections to find cool stuff in deadstock condition when it comes to denim and other garments.

Have a listen to Larry, I was like what?! The stories he tells about the days of hunting in the late 80s and then the 90s, the days traveling to Japan alone with deadstock product when the japaense were raiding the US hunting for the good stuff before the US even knew what was going on except for a few. The Rose Bowl era and the vendors there, the money they made back in the day and the theft of product worth $350k (purchased value, not resale which would have been more) he was victim of that almost bankrupted him.

That second coat looks very interesting!
The german tanneries seem to offer a lot of interesting deer leather, very different from those I have. I just need to make sure I get the right size for trousers, they could become daily wearers.

The other option for something like this is Wildfang. I want to visit them before I order anything, but it might take quite some time before things open up. They told me they have a ot of unique hides in small quantities. Do you have an idea of how they compare to Meindl in terms of construction - I have understood they are made to measure or bespoke.

How thick are these hides, would you say in the region of 1mm?

Can’t say for the jackets. The trousers would be at least 1mm, probably some more (can’t measure myself). The leather sure feels substantial and heavy but NOT unyielding like horsehide before the break-in.
The leather is very spongy, so I find comparisons with other hides a bit difficult.

Found on Pinterest. Allegedly a Schott. But when I looked for pictures I didn't find anything. Can that be a Schott?

Lederwerk Frankfurt...they do have many interesting designs and leathers (Bison, lamb, etc) but I'm not sure how the quality is and where jackets are manufactured.

This is interesting, very much nods towards a lot of 30s German leathers I've seen, especially with the mandarin collar. Pity about the more modern zip pulls, which I think take the edge off the design. It would look really good with button cuffs and button-fastening flaps over the pockets instead.

@Edward I agree with you. As they mainly sell through a German Men's outfitter who offers mainly modern clothing or modern interpretations of vintage classics, I think they would not sell one jacket if they would offer more historical pattern/design. Jackets are made in Hungary (EU) and leather is New Zealand lambskin...thickness is only 0.7-0.8mm which is thin for our tastes but thick for them and their target customers.

I had a feeling that it might be more a vintage-inspired fashion piece.... Still, nicer than a lot of what that market has to offer.

Vanson leather jackets are cool without doubt.
But I also saw a very nice, classical waxed motorcycle jacket, the Stormer.
It's available in black, tan and olive. I especially like the tan and olive.
It's something Steve McQueen might have worn or did in fact wear.

Has anyone got experiences with this jacket?

I don't undestand why people keep on buying RMC, TFH, FW and Himel jackets for more than double the price you pay for a FL...of course he "only" offers a couple of models but he's open for new styles like in my case (heart-shaped D-pocket) and he also agreed to make a Mulholland clone for me in navy blue with contrast stitching

Yeah, this. When I first saw these pics on IG, I stopped scrolling and stared at the stitching for a good two minutes, thinking Man, I've been unjust to... Wait, who is that, anyway, RMC? FLC? , thinking it's some mega-pricey Japanese maker, before realizing it's Greg.
This is some next level workmanship.
