I think it all depends on the specific boots, jacket, belt etc..Really it does. Theres so many different shades of black and brown. Theres so many different styles and cuts. Ive seen it pulled of perfectly and Ive seen it clash disgustingly ha. I dont think I can make a blanket statement on it. Show me the individual outfit and then Ill decide if it works.

I fully agree with this. So many shades of black and brown that it’s difficult to come up with a hard and fast rule imho. I find that a dark seal jacket with some black teacore boots looks pretty good.

I also think that matching jacket/belt/boots of the exactly same leather and colour looks off. It just gives me the impression of too much leather being worn all at once. As usual, some people pull it off fine though.

Formal wear is a different story.

I think in the end it is personal taste and subjective predilection often founded in older fashion grammar and convention. Carlos - you're a poser.... . Joking. There are bigger issues than whether black and brown can mix in polite company. To be honest, in most cases I don't notice what people are doing with their clothing. I will definitely notice a leather jacket or if someone is wearing a pink corduroy blazer, but more subtle differences usually don't register.

Well call me a poser, because i would not leave the house with brown shoes and a black jacket.
I don't care about the belt, i usually wear a natural leather belt, but to me black and brown worn together looks like crap.
I think you can get away with mixing tan and black, or cordovan and black, but not brown and black...

Mixture of a Cafe Racer (back and sleeves) and a highwayman (front) with shearling lining.
Unfortunately it was much too short, so I sold it a few years ago.

also shearling. But I wouldn't do it again. The fqhh was too heavy and too stiff in combination with the shearling. Like a tank.
