Yesterday I went for a walk during a morning break from the office. Halfway through it started to rain, and it was raining fairly hard. The Penman Everyman Indy hat has great felt, especially considering it's an 80/20 blend of rabbit/beaver felt. I just left it on my desk, then took it home and brushed it. No harm done at all. Zilch. Nada. Nuttin'

Fantastic little hat for a factory/production model.

Another example of quality vs mother nature. Sometimes, she doesn't win!

The Wife and I went hiking the other day at Twin Falls WA about 30 mins East of Seattle...
Started raining like crazy...imagine that, caught in the rain around Seattle, lol!

The last picture taken was about half way through...Man, the hat got more soaked than I would have intensionally put it through...I mean it's my Lock & Co. , I would have probably gotten an Akubra if I had thought I was going to torture test it like this...lol! Even my rain coat was soaked through...But everything kept me dry...

Hung my Lock up on a hook, snapped the brim up and left it....next morning I was a little scared to come down and look...Man! Hat looked better than ever! Didn't shrink or taper one iota....And if anything, it's a tad softer, but still just as dense...and brim snaps so you can hear it across the room...With no wobbleyness on that natural edge.....

I did put a dab of Doc Marten's Wonder Balsam between my fingers and rub it into the sweatband...just for the future...I've never done anything to condition the sweatband and it's still like new...I want to keep it that way...

I've heard some newer hats don't handle the elements too well....I don't want to tempt fate...But I have borderline abused this great hat, and now, just flat abused it....Always glad to see you can still find a good production hat these days....

Nice pictures and good to hear how your Locke held up to a drenching.

Threw on my Jazz Man Cavanagh just to run a couple hundred feet up the alley to the corner store for milk. About halfway there, cloudburst.

Either this thing isn't colorfast or it's way dirtier than it looks, as it's dripping brown...but at least my head is still dry!

Sent from thin air using electricity and other wizardry.
That wonderful Cav felt can handle anything.
