Great picture! I took a similar one (without the raindrops) last summer on a weekend on a riverboat, fedora and a Jim Beam bottle.

Those elements just seem to go naturally together, especially in photos. Very nice. Blackthorn, have you posted your variation somewhere?

Mine for today. Stephen Stetson lord's hat.

From these photos I'm thinking those clear plastic rain covers for hats offered for sale on many hat store websites are not really to popular.

Seems to me they would be more of a hassle and aggravating than facing the elements or just taking the hat off.......

From what I've read here on the lounge, plastic covers would in fact e detrimental to a fur felt hat as the plastic would not permit the felt to breathe properly. Their use on wool felt is different, but I prefer an application of protectant for my wool than using a plastic. Knowledgable experts please set me straight if I'm wrong.

If you're just going out into the rain for a short while, a plastic cover will do the hat no harm as long as you remove it when you come in out of the rain.

These days, the people I see most with these plastic hat covers are state troopers because when they are out in the rain, they tend to be so for long(er) periods of time, and their hats need to remain crisp looking.

If those brick stiff hats can't take the elements then they need to buy something else. Plastic covers are for ladies with super hair sprayed hair---not hats.:p
