I figured the match sticks would go up thru the boot pulls. And if she is a professional foot model her toes are probably insured with Lloyds of London.

Phoenix in Dark Moss today. I found this in the back of my pile and it’s too nice a hat not to wear more often.

I played with the crease a bit today and spent some time handling it and looking it over. Rick makes such a great hat at very reasonable prices. I think the secret is out and he has more business than he can accommodate these days. I’m waiting for a couple and I’m getting ready to order a couple more. I know this is a tough time for a lot of folks, and that custom hats are an extravagance. There’s just something comforting about holding and wearing a superbly made custom hat that makes me feel it’s money well-spent. Thank you, Rick!

Yes, I agree wholeheartedly. I don't have an Optimo but I do have a few of Art's, BlackSheep and Leon Drexler's and Rick's creations can stand along side these hatters...no question.

Do you want to stay with a soft dress weight felt or are you looking for a firmer western felt like your Arizona? You’re limited on brim and crown size with dress weight, all the more so at 7 1/2.

I have Winchester western weights in both full beaver and 50/50....both are great felts and to the eye and the hand I cannot tell the difference.

My Arizona 50% beaver in sand color is one of my favorite hats. Good to know about the limitations on dress weight as far as larger size hats. I suppose I am ready to go for what comes after Arizona along the same lines. My only requirement is that it has to work for a beach hat.

I have two nutria hats in the works. If they turn out well I’m thinking of a couple more. I hope the finished felt is softer and more malleable than Winchester’s westerns. Sunrise is out of stock, but more hat bodies are due in soon. You might see if Rick has any ideas.

All is well here Brent and Robie and I appreciate your concern. I've been having trouble receiving some emails after I upgraded to Windows 10. I'm working on the problem, but nobody has been able to figure it out. For now it's best just to pm me here. With just a month into my "semi-retirement", I've actually gotten busier at the treatment center due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We've tried to minimize risk and exposure to our staff and clients, but we have 60 men living on our campus that have no place else to go. I'm spending a lot of time there covering for other staff members and am more behind on my other pursuits than ever, but I will plug along as best as I can.
