Petition for Akubra's Federation IV in Silverbelly

Hello folks,

I personally love the color 'silverbelly' from akubra. For example, this color comes with the campdraft.
I love the Federation IV, too.
Wouldn't it be nice to have this model with the color silverbelly?

So, I made a little grafic of a photoshopped Fed IV in Silverbelly - more for fun - to show it on Instagram.
But after I created it, I had the idea, that this grafic could be spread through members of the Lounge who are also on Instagram.

So, if you are into this little joke, feel free to download the grafic and show it in the story of your Instagram Account.
And maybe - who knows - we'll have a chance.

Just to coordinate it a little bit and make akubra see it, follow the rules:

- post the grafic in you story 2 times. The grafic should be visible for 48 hours.
- tag @akubraofficial, @the_hattery_katoomba on it.
- tag #akubrapetition on it.
- start to post the stories on Thursday, 25th at 10 a.m. - american time. For us Europeans, it is 4 p.m. then, right?


I hope there won't be huge discussions about this thing. Remember, it is not totally serious, but made with a blinking eye.

In the normal run of things I don’t think getting a run made up would have been an issue. With the current situation I doubt it will happen. I know you said it as a joke but this is how the colour choice for Campdraft got expanded.

Hats Direct / The Hattery can occasionally have special runs done in a colour from the Akubra factory, I believe. There was another brand - Stetson? - did a run of a hat in a particular colour as a group deal with TFL members a few years ago from memory.

I'd love to see someone doing something like the Fed but with a range of to-order options in brim binding, ribbon ,and wind trolley. Not quite custom, more limited custom options on a production line hat. The one you've mocked up would look great with a dark contrast ribbon imo.

OH, what a good idea. I would definitely join with 2 hats.

But who organizes it? Maybe a user, who is better know as me by the people in this forum?
And english is not my native language.... I can't find the right words so easy.

If you read the Akubra blog section they clearly indicate they are only making hats to order. Yes all the regular production hats as well, except for their straw hats. From a business model they probably get orders from vendors with minimum numbers that make it worth while and keep the factory going at a reduced rate. Only providing for orders in hand rather then stockpiling. If you look at HatsDirect they have not listed the federation or federation deluxe for clearance so I am assuming they will be able to get new stock of them when needed. A special, but regular production hat for over 20 years. If people really want a special run In a colour Akubra regularly makes AKA no retooling and have all the supplies on hand. I can imagine they would do it. From the picture you provided I would say the ribbon colour is what would stop it from being made. If it was a brown or black (a colour found on one of the other Federations)I can see them doing it.
Myself, I am not in the position to order a new hat. So I am staying out of this for now. Last thing I want to do is look like I will put my money where my mouth is and leave Akubra one hat sale short. Especially when they are hurting. This is a company I want to survive the best they can.
If you are in the position and HatsDirect as well as Akubra is willing, hay more sales the better right?

I think a lot of the hat stores & makers are struggling to survive right now.

As an example; I receive almost daily emails from JJ Hat's. They're offering 30-50% off on a lot of hats and a significant amount of their Stetson line of hats is out of stock.

I am not sure about the ribbon-color. Campdraft Silverbelly has its own color, too. But it could be a little bit more easier for akubra, to take the ribbon of the normal grey federationIV and place it on a silverbelly felt.

Anyway, how could I handle this job here? I see the idea, and I think it's wonderful. But who could help me out in this forum? With English description? We would need a poll or something. And a list of people, who would join in.
