RBH! Great looking hat. By the way, what "bashes" are on your Panamas?

RBH, I like that hat. PanamaBob has a cocoa colored hat that I plan on adding to my collection as funds permit. I have a brown Adam Milan, but it is the only straw that I have that is not white or natural. It looks good on ya.

THANKS BUD! I really like a brown straw, this one is SWEET! [I really love the high crown and almost but not 3 inch brim] I look forward to Roberts brown panama. I believe it will be a huge hit.

I think you will like the Milan type straws. They do seem to be a little more "ventilated" than Panamas. Not as well crafted but in this heat, go for cool. Most business men wore a Milan type weave in the 50's as I recall. Sharp hat, well done.

Prairie, you are so right, this isnt a panama but it is a great hat. And boy IT IS COOL! In fact I mowed with my 'farm' panama and changed to the Indy straw... the Indy straw was cooler -- HANDS DOWN.
But just like styles and brands both type hats are great and I reccomend both.

Looks good R! Terrific pinch in front. Just the right hat to wear for hot weather, style and comfort. And cutting grass wearing it makes it two kinds of weave in one, "milan" and "my lawn"

Dean, you have to get you one of these. Joe can bash it into a c-crown for you...but you would love it!

The hat looks fantastic, and you wear it well, RBH!! I especially like the tight pinch you've put in it, really sharp!!!

Joe can fix you up. All I did was order the hat. I knew I could 'change' what I needed. When the hat arrived all I needed to do was tighten the front pinch up. I will say that in Rodeo season things pick up for them ...so get your order in soon for next year.

Thanks pipeguy! My panamas have c-crowns on them, the front on them have a semi tight pinch. The crowns of the panamas are not as high as this.
But I believe PanamaBob can get you a high crown if you give him some notice.
Of course Joe could fix you up on this hat, and this hat is a good one!

One thing I have done with this straw is to let the back brim be turned down. I like that on a straw but I think with the tall crown that this hat looks good that way.
I will try and post a couple of photos tommorrow.

IC, this straw has held up great! I highly recommend it.
In fact, if the weather is right this January, this may be the hat I wear when we head to Texas.

I do like Milan Braid hats. It is difficult to find them w/ a brim much past 2 1/8" though. This one is a nice exeption... this one & summer season trooper hats. I alway wondered if a brown summer trooper could be re-creased into something more fedora-esque

I think it could be Rick if the straw wasnt too stiff. The straw on the PB is not stiff at all, but does hold its shape very well.

I'll second that!
One thing you have to watch out for is high humidity like misters & such. The moisture tends to soften the varnish that stiffens it and the brim will droop a bit. But about 5 minutes in the sun will bring it back to life. Just a little side note from an experience wearing the straw at Disneyland on some of the water rides. Even when well protected a little moisture will get to it.
But, other than that it is a fantastic hat to wear in the summer.

Dan I have taken to spraying mine with Scouts Rain and Stain Protector. It really helps.


I also pushed down the back of the center dent a little. I think it looks much better this way.

It's not brown, but this used to be a summer trooper. It got a cold water soak, a reshape, and was allowed to dry in this shape.

Some days I like it, and some days I don't. I think I like it, today. Of course, I like RBH's brown Indy even better!

Wonder what they use to make that style so stiff? As I said mine holds its shape well but in no way is it stiff. There are a few spots I would not mind spraying a little stiffner on..the brim for one.
