I just can't get the hang of end papers, my hair is baby fine and soft as silk unless curled, despite the bleaching, and they just slide off

Spray it with hair spray so the paper gets a little wet and sticks to the hair. or use whatever you like to get the paper wet to stick to the hair. you're good to go!

I bought some large perm rods from a shop on ebay. I think they are 16.5mm.
I really liked the results and managed to get 3 days out of 1 set. :D
No problems sleeping in them either.

Kerry, please do tell what you do to get a decent night' sleep with perm rods!?! I thought I'd give them another try last night, but ended up ripping them out at 1am (ahhh, bliss!), because I just couldn't cope any longer! Hence stick straight hair today!

Drudging up an old thread! :) Is anyone sill using their perm rods? I'm having a hard time picturing how one would section their hair for this since they don't go all the way to the scalp, which is what I'm used to doing.

Oh hi there I use perm rods and they are great, generally I dont section the hair i grab a section of hair that is the same length as the rod then roll under until reach the scalp. I go no further than eye level. Snoodlebug has a great tutorial on her blog check it out works a dream every time! good luck and happy perm rodding you wont look back once you get the hang!

In reference for how to wrap a perm that's a pretty standard 6 section perm set. It's basically a mohawk all the way from front to back and then the hair on either side is divided into 2 sections. They're both pictures of the same thing only with different size perm rods.

I find that a scarf or a hairnet is very helpful in sleeping on them, because the worst part about trying to sleep on them is that they can move. However if I roll it as close to my scalp as I can get it and then wrap a bandana around it I'm usually fine to sleep in them.

I just ordered some perm rods from Sally online, thinking I could have the look of pin curls in less time. I must have got the size wrong because they're TINY, 3mm in the middle and 6mm on each end. And this makes them so fiddly they're actually more difficult than pin curls. Have any of you used this size? Are they still good?
