These are nice. Vanson are now about the same priced as a Schott in the UK, sometimes les depending on where you buy. Different strokes for different folks an aw that, but I'm much more impressed by the Vanson of the two.
My point had nothing to do with what one might consider more ‘impressive’ in general, but the more critical matter of whether it looks like a Perfecto, which it doesn’t (and why should it?) Vanson jackets are interesting in their own right but this is clearly a hybrid of multiple styles.
Interesting it's cut to the men's side while being a jacket designed for the ladies. I wonder if that's Joan J's influence.
A lot of cross-zips (and other casual jackets) fasten left over right in the women’s versions as well, even back in the 'Golden Age'; if anything it was the default for double riders. You’ll never see it the other way around, though.
You’ll notice that Schott has women’s Perfectos that fasten in both directions.
You can see it in this 40s/50s era Buco catalogue photo, in which the ladies DR fastens left over right:
The knockoff Suzi Quatro had nothing to do with it!
