Thank you for posting. I watched it several times thinking I might get a glimpse of my father, uncle and grandfather. The three of them were there sometime that summer. Dad was fifteen and Uncle Jule was nineteen.

I'm not sure that hats on men were quite as ubiquitous as the movies of the day would have us believe. Much like cigarettes, hats were there to be use as a prop, and a style choice, as much as to reflect reality.
